Kim Woo Bin and Kang So Ra offered roles in upcoming Hong Sisters drama Jeju Gatsby
Am I dreaming right now? Because it certainly feels like this casting news came straight out of my fantasies. Two of the hottest up-and-coming K-drama stars, Kim Woo Bin and Kang So Ra, have officially been offered the leading roles in the upcoming Hong Sisters drama, tentatively titled Jeju Gatsby.
While neither actor has officially accepted the role yet, this would be an amazing pairing, and it proves once again that the Hong Sisters have some of the best celebrity couples in the business. If Kim Woo Bin accepts, it would be his first full-length drama since Heirs in 2013. Since that time, he has acted in three movies (Friend 2, The Technicians, and the upcoming Twenty), and he had a cameo in the fun web series Love Cells.
Kang So Ra was already building her fan base with her performance in Doctor Stranger last year, but it was tvN's hit Misaeng that really made her popularity skyrocket.
The Hong Sisters, known for writing quirky romantic favorites like The Master's Sun, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, You're Beautiful, and Greatest Love, have only stated so far that the upcoming series will be a romance set on Jeju Island. The original idea was a time travel romance, but they have moved in a different direction, and it's unclear if the series will incorporate ideas from Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, or if it will follow the many other K-dramas like Pride and Prejudice or Secret Garden (just to name a few) that aren't direct adaptations of the original novels.
What do you think of this potential casting? For those of you who suffered second male lead syndrome in Heirs and second female lead syndrome in Doctor Stranger, this might be the perfect cure! Even if Kim Woo Bin turns down this role, you can still get your chance to see him soon when The Technicians comes to DramaFever! Sign up for the movie alert HERE.
