D-Day, JTBC's ambitious disaster drama, has begun filming. In the first stills released from the set, we see Kim Young Kwang and Jung So Min in character as doctors who become part of the rescue effort when a devastating earthquake hits Seoul.

In the series, Pinocchio's Kim Young Kwang takes the lead role as a talented surgeon at a top hospital who has a rebellious side, and Twenty's Jung So Min will play a strong-willed resident in the orthopedic surgery department who has a gentle heart.

D-Day actually isn't scheduled to premiere until September, but because of the massive scale of the series and the CGI work required to make the premise work, the production began in May. According to the show's producer, "Because the drama’s scale is big and it requires a lot of hands, we began production in May. We will make sure the drama doesn’t run counter to expectations concerning its scale." While disaster films are fairly common, the live shoot system generally prohibits this kind of disaster series. Hopefully their early preparation will pay off!
