Lee Min Ho achieves fantastic results for Korean tourism
When South Korea launched a new tourism campaign starring Lee Min Ho, there were probably critics who wondered about the success rate. So far, the promotion has been a huge hit, and a new survey proves the Hallyu superstar's magnetic power.
The new tourism commercial captures the theme of "Korea: Let Your Story Begin" and shows the handsome Lee Min Ho visiting major sites of interest. The ad is also broadcast on TV in different languages to reach international audiences.
In only 2 months since the official release on July 29, the video has already surpassed 22 million views to date, and that's not including the versions in other languages.
"It is the biggest hit among promotion videos the Korean government has released so far on tourism," according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization. Viewership continues to rise, thanks to Lee Min Ho, who exudes enormous star power among international audiences because of such popular dramas as Boys Over Flowers and Heirs.
The Korean Tourism Organization also conducted a survey of international viewers in 15 countries. The majority (70%) of the respondents liked the video, and 82% of them said, "I want to visit Korea after seeing this video.” Additionally, 49% of those with the positive response said, “It’s because I like the person in the advertisement.”
