Lee Min Ho first Korean to appear on the biggest New Years show in China
China's CCTV Spring Festival Gala broadcast is the biggest TV show in the world as it is watched by just about every person in the country. To be invited to appear on the show is a great honor for any entertainer. This year, Lee Min Ho will be the first Korean star to be on the show. Given how popular the "Long-legged Oppa," as his fans call him, is in China, perhaps CCTV feels lucky to have Lee Min Ho on the show.
Joining other big stars and celebrities such as Jackie Chen and Sophie Marceau, Lee Min Ho will be the first Korean star to appear on the most important show in China, and also the first to sing a song in Korean.
Lee Min Ho said in an interview, "It is thanks to my fans in China that I am invited to the show. I am very excited. I think this is a great opportunity for me to give back the love I have received from all the fans in the past year."
He will partner with Taiwanese-Chinese singer Harlem Yu to sing the song, "Qing Fei De Yi" (Can't help but love), that Harlem composed for the OST of Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, the precursor of Boys Over Flowers. Lee Min Ho said he will certainly do his best even though he feels pressure as he will sing in both Korean and Chinese.
He told the reporter that in Korea the custom is also to spend the New Year with one's family. He then sweetly said "Happy New Year" in excellent Chinese.
All of a sudden, I wish I could fly to China right this moment to watch Lee Min Ho. The CCTV Spring Festival Gala starts at 8 pm on Lunar New Year's Eve and lasts till past midnight to end on Lunar New Year's Day.
