You don't have to be a fan of Lee Min Ho to know that he is a man of many talents, interests, and passions. Add to the ever-growing list of accomplishments his most recent film, a documentary on Korea's DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), which he took on as a pro bono project! Why did Lee Min Ho decide to take part, and what significance did the film have for him? Make sure to read on and find out!

On March 29th, Lee Min Ho attended a press conference in Seoul to promote his upcoming MBC documentary DMZ, The Wild. Lee Min Ho not only stars in the film, but he also narrates the documentary.

The documentary focuses on the natural scenery and animals inside the DMZ, a strip of land about 2.5 miles wide separating North and South Korea, which has not been open to civilian access for more than half a century.

During the press conference, Lee Min Ho openly discussed the two reasons why he decided to take on this project. First, as a lover of documentary films, Lee Min Ho confessed that he has always wanted to personally participate in the making of a documentary and this film was the perfect opportunity to do so. Second, Lee Min Ho wanted to raise awareness about the interesting wildlife and ecosystem that is unique to the DMZ.

Lee Min Ho went on to confess that when he initially arrived at the site he felt nervous. Not only was he to physically walk around in an area literally surrounded by two military forces, but the filming was scheduled to continue for 2 nights and 3 days. (Given that the DMZ is the world's most dangerous border, who can blame him?)

During the press conference, Lee Min Ho also confessed that he had felt a bit of guilt while at the DMZ.

"All the soldiers stationed at the DMZ were very young. I felt a sense of guilt..."

Regarding his own upcoming enlistment, Lee Min Ho stated,

"Like any other actor leaving for the army, I am sad to be parting with everyone; however, it will only be for a short while. I would like to work on as many projects as I can before entering the military."

The MBC documentary special DMZ, The Wild is set to air on April 3 in Korea. To read more about the documentary click here!
