This week’s episodes had us on an emotional rollercoaster. There were laughs, thrills, tears and heart-fluttering romantic moments. Love in Trouble is proving to have a little bit of everything, as well as some top notch performances from Ji Chang Wook and Nam Ji Hyun. Join me, Marakeshsparrow with my fellow drama clubbers, DeShonda and OhSoEnthusiastic, as we dish over episodes 5-8 and how things are already heating up!

Marakeshsparrow: Wow! These episodes were really fun. I am loving the intrigue and am especially enjoying the chemistry between the leads! Eun Bong Hee and No Ji Wook are really fun together, many of their antics had me laughing out loud. The drama seems to be picking up steam already. What did you think?

OhSoEnthusiastic: Right away, I’m happy to see them feeling an attraction to each other so early in the story. Most dramas tend to make us wait a little longer for the romance to start, but not this one, and I’m totally ok with that. Something that kind of shocked me though, and I’m not sure how I feel about it, is the reveal of what the serial killer looks like. Dramas tend to have trouble with knowing when to reveal certain plot details, so at least they won’t have that problem, I guess, but it almost feels like they showed his face too soon?

DeShonda: Just like you ladies, I am really enjoying the chemistry between Eun Bong Hee and No Ji Wook. I think they are so cute together, and it’s like an awkward cute, but it fits their personalities. But just as I suspected, things look like they might get a bit complicated as the ex-girlfriend is back in the picture. I was surprised that the serial killer was revealed so soon too. But I think there is more to that as well. There are too many suspicious people lurking around every corner. I will say that the serial killer is creepy. There were several times while watching I was scared for Eun Bong Hee when she was in her office alone. It was a relief that No Ji Wook was there for her.

Marakeshsparrow: Isn’t there a whole “killer with amnesia” thing that’s going to factor in somehow? I’m thinking there is going to be something to complicate the situation somehow. AND OMG the ex-girlfriend. She looks like pretty fierce competition (I mean come on, she’s a badass prosecutor with a heart of ice) but I’m thinking Ji Wook won’t be tempted so easily. She did break his heart once before and he seems like a smart guy. Can we talk about some of those amazing tongue-in cheek hero moments he was having in these episodes? I love how he just tossed that stalker onto his back and totally swept Bong Hee off her feet. I was cracking up at that.

OhSoEnthusiastic: I have no idea how I’m supposed to feel about the ex girlfriend. I mean, 1) she’s kick-ass, and I kind of want to be her when I grow up, 2) she doesn’t seem like all that terrible of a person really, but 3) she cheated on Ji Wook, and cheating’s not ok. Basically, I like her, but I’m not sure if I’m supposed to or not? My favorite Ji Wook moments were the whole time Bong Hee was hobbling around on her twisted ankle, and he was waiting on her hand and foot. He has to have some awareness of what he’s doing and why he’s doing it, even if that awareness is small. As for the reveal of the serial killer’s face, it’s possible that that’s a red herring, and that guy isn’t actually the serial killer but the serial killer’s lackey, but I don’t know how likely that is at this point.

DeShonda: And that’s what I was thinking too OhSoEnthusiastic. There is definitely something more to this serial killer. As I mentioned before, there are some people that are acting pretty shady and I am keeping an eye out on everyone, especially anyone who works around Ji Wook. We already know his rival is shady, but so is his boss as well. Something is suspicious and I smell a rat. I really loved Ji Wook’s moments he had with Bong Hee as well. I must admit, those scenes did make me laugh as well.

Marakeshsparrow: There is definitely something suspicious about the District Attorney, I know that for sure. Why did he fabricate evidence to make sure Bong Hee was convicted of his son’s murder? Was he out to get her for some reason? Was it so hard to accept that someone else might have killed his son and wouldn’t he want to go after the real killer, even if that meant the possibility Bong Hee was innocent? And what, now he has her watched and followed? It’s weird. Also, if this guy really is the killer, how did he get his position at a crime scene investigator? That seems awfully convenient. Also, didn’t Ji Wook have that nightmare about seeing his dad burn to death in a fire? Was that shadowy figure lurking around in the background meant to be the D.A.?

OhSoEnthusiastic: I think Mr. District Attorney is part blinded by his grief and part stuck up his own ass and has a need to simply peg someone for murder, regardless of facts. His son died in her apartment and that’s all that matters to him. And there’s no way that guy is a legit crime scene investigator. He probably stole the uniform to use for his/the real serial killers murders. Going back to the ex for a moment though, what do you guys think her motivation for wanting to get back together with Ji Wook is? Because she genuinely loves him and realizes she made a mistake or something else? Right now, I feel like it could go either way.

DeShonda: As the ex-girlfriend re-entered the picture, I had the same questions you did OhSoEnthusiastic. I was wondering why would she pop up now? As you mentioned, I do think she has feelings still for Ji Wook, but there has to be something more. Maybe she is trying to get back in his life to help him in some way. As mentioned before, Ji Wook did have a dream in which he saw his father being burned. I personally think the D.A. has something to do with that, and who ever killed Ji Wook’s father also killed Bong Hee’s ex-boyfriend, but I digress. I think that maybe Ji Wook’s ex-girlfriend has some important information about who this killer is. I am hoping that she is a friend rather than a foe. But she also befriended Bong Hee too and that’s where the complication begins.

Marakeshsparrow: I’m hoping she ends up being cool. I loved the way she made friends instantly with Bong Hee, that definitely made me like her so I’m hoping I continue to. But there’s most likely some other reason she’s popped back up. I don’t think she’d do anything, like try to win Ji Wook back, unless it was to her advantage in some way (I don’t necessarily mean that in a bad way, she just seems to be pretty smart and savvy). Maybe she does have some sort of intel on the killer--I’d definitely like her to end up working with them rather than against them.

OhSoEnthusiastic: I want Bong Hee and Ji Wook’s ex to become a "best friends crime fighting duo" and travel around Korea kicking ass and taking names. That’s the only acceptable direction for that relationship to go. Speaking of Ji Wook’s father though, I’m not going to say that I Hate the ‘My parents met a tragic end, ie. Murder, and I have to solve it’ trope, but man. It would be nice sometimes to see people lose loved ones from, oh, I don’t know, normal things like car accidents and the like. Ya know, stuff people can actually relate to. That being said, I don’t think the same person killed Ji Wook’s father and Bong Hee’s ex, cause that would mean they were both targets of a serial killer, and that’s a little Too coincidental for me.

Marakeshsparrow: I just had a thought though--the District Attorney could someone be related to both murders. Was he responsible for Ji Wook’s dad’s death? //shrugs// Could he have someone been the reason for his own son’s death? Maybe he wanted to get the blame put on Bong Hee so badly because there was something to cover up. It’s still fairly early in the drama so we’ll probably need some more time to figure things out.

OhSoEnthusiastic: What about the serial killer then? Cause it’s gonna be pretty hard to draw a direct connection between him and Mr. District Attorney. Especially when our serial killer is supposed to be an amnesiac.

Marakeshsparrow: Hopefully next week some of our questions will be answered!

So what were your thoughts about this weeks episodes? Do you think Ji Wook realizes he's starting to dote more and more on Bong Hee, or is he completely oblivious? Will they get any closer to catching the real killer and clearing Bong Hee's name? I don't know about you all, but I am super excited to see what happens next.
