Mask grabs first place in Korean ratings with fast-paced premiere
Mask, the thrilling new melodrama from SBS, started off strong, topping Korean ratings with an exciting first episode.
The new drama starring Soo Ae and Joo Ji Hoon came in first place in the Nielsen Korea ratings with 7.5 percent viewership. Hong sisters drama Jeju Island Gatsby (aka Warm and Cozy) came in second place with 7 percent, and Masked Prosecutor (which will be airing next week on DramaFever with a two-week delay) came in third at 5.3 percent.
It's no surprise that Mask grabbed audience attention. The premiere started with Soo Ae's car careening off a cliff, and the entire episode was stuffed to the brim with excitement, intrigue, and a couple of shirtless Joo Ji Hoon scenes to boot. It also had a surprisingly funny streak interspersed with all the drama.
In Mask, Soo Ae plays the dual roles of Eun Ha, a privileged socialite, and Ji Sook, a poor woman with financial worries and bad luck. The two look identical, but their lives couldn't be more different. Eun Ha is engaged to Min Woo (Joo Ji Hoon), a corporate heir with a traumatic past.
