Matt Damon, Andy Lau, Luhan, and more stars set to act in Zhang Yimou's The Great Wall
Matt Damon and Andy Lau will lead the all-star cast of The Great Wall that also includes veteran actor Willem Dafoe and "the one to watch" Pedro Pascal.
Pascal is well known to Game of Thrones watchers as a total fan-favorite for his portrayal of Oberyn Martell. The cast also includes some of China's top performers such as Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, and Jing Tian. Luhan, former EXO member and overall sweetheart of China, is also set to star in The Great Wall as his first Hollywood movie. The film will also feature many Chinese actors in supporting roles, such as Chen Xuedong a.k.a. "Cheney Chen," Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Wang Junkai, Huang Xuan, Liu Qiong, and Yu Xintian.
The Great Wall will take place during the 15th Century. It will tell the story of an elite group of soldiers who will band together to save the Earth from giant mythical creatures who are trying to destroy humanity. It is not director Zhang Yimou's first time tapping Hollywood A-listers to star in his movies. His 2011 movie The Flowers of War starred Christian Bale and was well received in China. The Great Wall will be filmed entirely in China, and the pre-production has already been in the works for months. It is set to be released in the latter half of 2016!
