Since the moment they boarded that plane - scratch that - from well before they boarded the plane, things have been nothing but chaotic for our nine. The one thing everyone seems to agree on is that there is a murderer in the bunch but from their the details get blurry and stories start to contradict one another so Akua, Amy, and me (Logan) have taken it upon ourselves to conduct our own investigation by putting each of these characters under our magnifying glass- examining their motives, their actions, and what we know about whether they’re dead or alive so far.

Logan’s Investigation:

Secretary

Status: Alive, but a good-for-nothing coward

The discovery and survival of the Secretary was a game-changer in this investigation bringing the total known survivors up to that point up to 4. The investigation was at a stand-still with Bong Hee and Tae Ho’s testimonies completely contradicting one another. Who was the serial killer among the bunch? Who killed So Hee?-Everyone in Korea wants to know! It seemed as if the Secretary would corroborate Bong Hee’s story. After all, we know that Tae Ho is the murderer. We know that the Secretary knows that Tae Ho is the murderer. So what’s left is to tell the truth. How upsetting then was it to find that the Secretary instead took Tae Ho’s side. Not only saying that everything that Tae Ho said was correct, but also implicating Bong Hee in the crime as well. He sat there and accused Bong Hee of being a criminal and watched her get dragged away- knowing full well she was innocent.

To that I have to say that Mr. Secretary, you are a spineless coward and you disgust me! I can forgive you for initially covering up the fact that Tae Ho killed So Hee. I get that you were scared and the threat of imminent death was very real. But you fessed up and admitted the truth and were able to alert your friends to the real danger Tae Ho presented. But this time you’ve crossed a line. Do you know how many times and in how many different ways Bong Hee helped you survive? You know what a good person she is and all the good that she’s done. She was brave and told the truth despite being all alone with no support. You couldn’t even take her side after all that she’s done to you and to make matters worse you turned her into a criminal. You turned a selfless, hard-working, sweetheart into a murderer.

I’m disappointed and therefore suspicious of you. As Tae Ho has pointed out several times, you’re not on a desert island anymore. You’re in Seoul where a justice system exists for people like Tae Ho. Does he have something else over you that you’re so willing to fall prey to his threats? And why will you only trust the CEO? After everything that happened on the island, haven’t you learned that there are others who were looking out for you as well? Or is there something else you’re not telling us. With the arrival of two new survivors at the end of episode 8, you’re going to look pretty dumb if they tell the truth and side with Bong Hee. Not only that, but you’re going to have a lot of enemies- a lot more than the 7 friends you just betrayed.

So Hee

Status: Very Dead

We’ve known So Hee has been dead since the very beginning, but more questions and intrigue about her life and death continue to emerge. After Secretary Kim confesses that Tae Ho killed So Hee and made it look like a suicide, the gang has a wave of renewed grief over their loss of her. With the reporter showing up and joining their group, he has now broken the news to them that she was dating Jae Hyun before his death. A good investigator would have seen signs of this in her reaction to his death and how she hated Jung Oh more than anyone else.

As any good brother and/or prosecutor would be, Prosecutor Yoon is more devoted to bringing her murderer to justice than ever. He knows that the investigative unit and Tae Ho are up to no good. He can sense it just as we can. It’ll be interesting to see what his next steps are now that Bong Hee revealed to him that Tae Ho is the murderer. Because now she’s been accused of lying and being part of the murder herself. I think that Prosecutor Yoon’s actions are going to be the deciding factor on what happens to Bong Hee. He can either believe she was involved and make her life hell or he can trust her and protect her. He’s a smart man. He can sniff out a lie and he does his job well. The way that he and his gang of prosecutors stormed the press conference and reminded the CEO’s goons where they stood gave me hope that he is going to be the hero we need. I even thought to myself- Dang, they are cool! I think he’s going to know that Secretary Kim and Tae Ho are both lying right away. But even if he doesn’t, he’s seeking truth like a truth-seeking missile and he’s going to find it. The only question is, can we wait that long?

Ji Ah
Status: Unknown-Likely Alive

What do we know about Ji Ah so far? She’s bold, she’s a survivor, and she’s a woman that will never sit on the sidelines if she sees something wrong or if someone needs help. After all, she stormed into the ocean to save So Hee and even got hurt in the process even though she can’t swim and has some sort of illness that we still don’t know the details about. Her flirtations with Ki Joon are just so adorable. I don’t think she’s doing it to tease him or to be cruel at all. Considering what we’ve seen of her character and how the two of them have always been close, I think she genuinely cares for him and wants to date him. Some people criticize survival stories where people find romance while fighting for their life. To me it makes sense. If you don’t know if you’re going to be rescued or what’s going to happen to, doesn’t it make sense that you’d want to enjoy the time you have left? To live life without regrets? I think it does. So I’m rooting for their relationship!

Now in regards to her survival, it hasn’t been confirmed if she’s dead or alive yet. But considering the fact that there were two more confirmed survivors as announced at the bottom of episode 8, it seems likely that one of them will be her. Hopefully it will. Because just like she showed when she coolly told Tae Ho she wanted to break up when she discovered what a psychopath he was and then followed up later with a devastating punch to his face, we know that she’s not a coward. She will tell the truth. Not only is she honest, but she fights for what’s right. We saw a little bit of Bong Hee’s fighting spirit begin to return to us this last week, but we need more spirit on the side of the good guys. Ji Ah’s arrival will offer a strong voice that people will listen to and a passion that will add to the conviction of her words. Come back to us safely, Ji Ah- we need you to tell people what really happened.

Amy’s Investigation

Tae Ho

Status: Alive, unfortunately

Let’s talk about Tae Ho. That man has been up to no good for so long that I’m not sure he even remembers how to be good anymore. It turns out Tae Ho was the one who caused Jae Hyun’s death but made it look like a suicide. No trying to alert authorities that there was an accident, didn’t even think of turning himself in. Just killed Jae Hyun and let Joon Oh take the blame and live with the guilt. Since Tae Ho’s dirty deeds know no bounds he is now wreaking havoc in the present time. Putting all of his murders on Joon Oh and threatening Secretary Tae so that he doesn’t tell the truth. Of course Tae Ho also has to make Bong Hee look bad and make her an accomplice with Joon Oh. That is just bad guy logic, right? Tae Ho is working with the new Legend Entertainment CEO because he is a greedy, selfish man who just wants more and more. Jang Do Pal is working with Tae Ho because he has all of the fans and will make the most money. It’s a win-win and while I hate it I appreciate the conflict and suspense it brings to Missing Nine. Also, I can’t wait for them to get what they deserve!

CEO Hwang

Status: Comatose

CEO Hwang is an interesting guy. He seems very oblivious to what is going on around him but when he does know he gets very controlling. I don’t think he is bad though. He just wants to do what he thinks is best for his artists. While they have been on the island CEO Hwang has been looking out for everyone and when he had the chance to escape couldn’t make himself do it so I know he is loyal. Of course Tae Ho and Jang Do Pal won’t have any of his goodness. As soon as he got off the island and made his way to Korea there was an “accident” and CEO Hwang is now comatose. We know CEO Hwang would tell the truth and would not be afraid to do it which is why Jang Do Pal tried to kill him. If CEO Hwang wakes up someone on his side needs to find out first so that they can protect him. Otherwise we will just suffer more frustrations because Tae Ho and Jang Do Pal will get their hands on him again. Have I mentioned that I can’t wait for justice to be served?

YeolStatus: Presumed Dead, but some of us are still holding out hope

Yeol is the innocent maknae of Dreamers who thinks the best of everyone. He has stood by Tae Ho and Joon Oh even if he thinks they may be up to no good. That is why it hurts so much that he may be dead. I propose that he isn’t though. I think that there is a chance he is on another close by island or the same island just observing everything that is going on. Or that he was somehow rescued and has people looking for the island he came from. It is definitely in his character to do that so let’s hold out hope!

Akua’s Investigation

INTERNAL INVESTIGATIVE REPORT

DRAFT - ONGOING INVESTIGATION

DATE: Monday, February 13th, 2017

MATTER: Missing Nine Case File: Legend Entertainment Plane Crash and Disappearance of Idols, Team, Executives and Crew

CATEGORY: Suspicious Deaths

INVESTIGATOR: Akua

PERSON OF INTEREST: Joon Oh

AGE: Early 20s

OCCUPATION: Ex-frontman for Legend Entertainment's boy band "Dreamers"

PERSONALITY: Seemingly childish, temperamental, brash and selfish however upon further inspection, is deeply loyal, honest, transparent, protective, compassionate, non-judgmental, kind and intelligent.

SITUATION: Haunted by prior suicide of close friend. Attempting to regain spotlight and celebrity status.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENTS: Continuing the investigation, I find that Joon Oh may or may not have also discovered a mutant rabbit that lives on the island. This is yet to be determined although his companion Bong Hee claimed that it was nothing more than a pig. This leads to speculation that a pig can be trapped for the nourishment of all islanders, however that was not to be, as a more tantalizing prey is caught. In the meantime, Joon Oh and Bong Hee's relationship continues to strengthen as they both reveal how much they care and need to be there for one another. It seems that Joon Oh has found, if nothing, a great friend in Bong Hee. It is my perception that Joon Oh is not just developing friendly feelings for Bong Hee, but very strong protective feelings that will reveal a much deeper romantic love.

Joon Oh has begun to discover a strength in himself that he didn't think he had. He is slowly becoming the de facto leader in the group, which is good since he must protect the others from the menace that is Tae Ho. His warm, caring manner toward Ho Hang who is refusing to eat, gentle scolding of Ji Ha, protective manner toward Bong Hee, honesty in the face of "killing" Tae Ho and constant self/group analysis about life is reflective of his maturation. That fact that he is the one who keeps an eye on Tae Ho during the mushroom hunt/snow ball fight as well as during the night is indicative of his sense of responsibility and loyalty to the group.

I am pleased that after being told by Ki Won of his suspicions about Tae Ho as a murderer, he goes looking for evidence himself; which unfortunately he finds, showing that Tae Ho is the one who caused Jae Hyun's untimely demise. It's important that the others acknowledge how they played a role in ostracizing Joon Oh. It's also important to contrast him with Tae Ho. While Joon Oh takes full responsibility for his actions, no matter if they weren't as harmful as he may think, Tae Ho is always the victim; accusing everyone else for his own abusive, violent, manipulative behavior.

While it is unfortunate that Tae Ho has cast him as the villain, I am confident that the truth will make itself known. Joon Oh is a good man. The only question is whether or not he is alive? We seem to get bits and pieces that perhaps he and Bong Hee are left on the island. If so, where is he? Did he sacrifice himself so that Bong Hee could return? Was he killed by a vengeful Tae Ho? Did regret make him isolate himself? Where IS Joon Oh?

CURRENT CONCLUSION: STILL MISSING, ALIVE, maybe amnesic?

INTERNAL INVESTIGATIVE REPORT

DRAFT - ONGOING INVESTIGATION

DATE: Monday, February 13th, 2017

MATTER: Missing Nine Case File: Legend Entertainment Plane Crash and Disappearance of Idols, Team, Executives and Crew

CATEGORY: Suspicious Deaths

INVESTIGATOR: Akua

PERSON OF INTEREST: Bong Hee

AGE: Early 20s

OCCUPATION: Stylist for ex-frontman for Legend Entertainment's boy band "Dreamers"

PERSONALITY: Calm, collected, thoughtful, a planner, loyal, hopeful, selfless and an introvert. Intelligent. Practical.

SITUATION: Finally achieving her first job, she now finds herself as the lead survivor on an island of celebrities and has-beens

ONGOING DEVELOPMENTS: Continuing the investigation, I find that Bong Hee is showing more of the can-do spirit that helped her and the other passengers survive the plane crash. She has always been strong (physically and emotionally) but she shined on the island. There, her family background and lack of employment wasn't a disadvantage that prevented others from seeing who she really is. In fact, no one cares. What matters is her strong will and desire to survive, her practicality, general good nature and loyalty.

However, Boon Hee is a feisty, fiery mother bear when the people whom she loves are threatened. Even knowing what she does about Tae Ho's viciousness, she still accosts him in a parking lot (which may not be the smartest move) and also barges in to the interview with Secretary Ho! This is a woman with a purpose who is unafraid of any danger to herself if she can protect someone she loves.

Even if Tae Ho has poisoned Secretary Ho with threats, Boon Hee will not take any of this lying down. It is my hope that she and the Prosecutor from the Western District will form an alliance that will see through the lies, threats and tactics of Tae Ho and his evil henchman.

Will Boon Hee be able to prove her innocence? How will the CEO Jang of Legend attack her? Will she be able to convince Ho Hang to do the right thing? I look forward to seeing how she fights to find out the truth of what happened!

CURRENT CONCLUSION: ALIVE, showing emotion! Ready to fight?

INTERNAL INVESTIGATIVE REPORT

DRAFT - ONGOING INVESTIGATION

DATE: Thursday, February 9th, 2017

MATTER: Missing Nine Case File: Legend Entertainment Plane Crash and Disappearance of Idols, Team, Executives and Crew

CATEGORY: Suspicious Lives

INVESTIGATOR: Akua

PERSON OF INTEREST: Ki Joon

AGE: Early 30s

OCCUPATION: Manager for ex-frontman for Legend Entertainment's boy band "Dreamers"

PERSONALITY: Caring, patient, loving, good-natured, selfless, group-oriented. Madly in love with Ji Ah

SITUATION: Having crashed alongside the others, Ki Joon is doing his best to keep up everyone's morale.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENTS: Continuing the investigation, I find that Ki Joon has taken more of a background stance in the action. The discovery of Tae Ho as a villain bothers him and he compensates by encouraging others - particularly Joon Oh. We'e seen the practicality and resourcefulness of Ji Koon as he tended to Ji Ah, the caring as he went in search of the others and the leadership as he, Yeol and Ji Ah tried to fix the lifeboat.

Joon Oh shows his love in action rather than words. When Joon Oh comes back after fighting Tae Ho, he comforts him with a few encouraging words which are obviously difficult for him to say. Currently, what is most important for him is the blossoming of his romance with Ji Ah. While Ji Ah's actions may have looked like a stunt, it's obvious that she likes him as evidenced by what she mumbles after he walks away "Well, I guess we're just going to have to date."

He continues to work away, helping Ho Hang with the military radio that Ki Won found and is the only one who hears the sound of the radio as it springs to life. This is the kind of man everyone needs to know - solid, dependable, kind and sweet.

So what will happen? Will he and Ji Ah really start to date? Where is he???

CURRENT CONCLUSION: ALIVE??? Working hard to save Ji Ah?

Logan: I wish I could say that our investigation is concluded, that we know with 100% certainty who is dead, who is alive, and that the wicked will be punished and justice will prevail, but we've still got a bumpy ride ahead of us, friends.
