Nam Joo Hyuk's transformation into a Goryeo prince in the upcoming drama Scarlet Heart: Ryeo made me do a double-take: this is the same person who played the endearing Eun Taek who followed Bora around in Cheese in the Trap. The first character still for the actor shows him in a brown historical costume with long side-swept hair. The new look gives him an entirely fresh charm.

In the photo, the actor has an air of a cultured man as he is seen holding a brush and writing. In the remake of the popular Chinese drama Scarlet Heart (Bu Bu Jing Xin), Nam plays the 13th prince in line to the throne, Wang Wook. He is one of the many princes lead actress IU will be surrounded by, when her character, Hae Soo, is transported from the 21st century back in time to 10-14th century Goryeo.

Previously released stills include leads Lee Joon Ki and IU (here), and princes played by Kang Ha Neul, Hong Jong Hyun, and EXO’s BaekHyun (here).

Scarlet Heart: Ryeo is scheduled to premiere on August 29 on SBS.
