Dating apps are nothing new, but this new feature on a Swiss app makes it stand out from all the rest. Created in tandem with the University of Zurich, Blinq uses artificial intelligence to tell you how old (or young) you look to others and even rates how attractive you are.

Because it uses artificial intelligence, your perceived age and attractiveness will, of course, depend on the photo you upload. According to Blinq's website, "Attractiveness is highly subjective and its perception differs from culture to culture. Our algorithm is trained on the pictures of the BLINQ community that is mainly based in Switzerland. In other parts of the world the perception might be very different." Either way, attractiveness on the app is rated on a generous  six-point scale that includes the ratings Hmm.., OK, Nice, Hot, Stunning and Godlike. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

As for me, the results were both a bit disappointing and flattering. I was told that I looked 51 (I'm way younger) but I was Hot. And my friend who's a lot older than I am was told that he looked 29 and was Nice. His cat, on the other hand, was 24 and Godlike.

"Have fun and don’t take the results too seriously," is the advice given on Blinq's website. For those ready to learn their fate, check out
