Official Hello Kitty cafe opens in Tokyo
As you all know by now, Hello Kitty recently turned 40 years old, and her birthday has been, and still is being, celebrated all over the world, with exhibitions, fashion collaborations, store openings, and more. In Tokyo, an official Hello Kitty cafe is opening its doors on November 14, and even though the opening is ten days away, it's already the talk of the town.
Parco, an iconic department store in Shibuya, which is the heart of youth culture, is known for its coolness factor, and it is hosting the official Hello Kitty cafe. Like all things too good to last forever, this cafe too will be open only for a limited time, from November 14 until Christmas morning on December 25. As you can see in the photos below, the menu items are all Christmas and Hello Kitty themed. Just by looking at the planned menu items, I can already see the super long lines that await all those who want a taste of the Hello Kitty Christmas Latte.
The entrance and interior is, of course, all Kitty. There is a gift shop for souvenirs and a Hello Kitty photo spot, the only one of its kind in the whole world. And here too, visitors can probably expect to wait for hours, especially right when it opens and right before it closes for good.
Shibuya may be in Tokyo, but on weekends, the young and trendy come from all over Japan, eager to shop and hang out in the center of all things cool. Having opened in one of the most popular and crowded department stores around, this cafe is sure to cement Kitty's popularity and status among all generations of Japanese fans.
Not that Kitty needs any help with that.
