SHINee's leader wants to return to the small screen. The "Everybody" singer is seriously considering the role of a doctor in the upcoming KBS series Descendants of the Sun. It is written to be a junior role alongside A-list actress Song Hye Kyo

Onew's agency, SM Entertainment, had this to say to Newsen about his interest in the melodrama:  "Onew is positively looking into appearing in KBS′s new drama, Descendants of the Sun."

Descendants of the Sun, which is written by Secret Garden's Kim Eun Sook and directed by Discovery of Romance's Lee Eung Bok, follows the lives of young soldiers and doctors. An UN Peacekeeping special security force and a medical volunteer team bonded over their mission to protect people.

To date, top actors Song Joong KiSong Hye Gyo, Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won have already confirmed their roles in the drama. They will be filming in South Korea and abroad.

Who doesn't want to see a SHINee cutie on-screen again? If he takes the role, this will be the first time we have seen him act in a TV drama since 2013. His last role was on the JBTC sitcom Welcome to Royal Villa. He didn't get the opportunity to release a solo album yet, so it would be great to see him take on a new project without his boys.

Are you hoping he takes the role?
