So Hae-joon proposed to live together and I’m impressed they actually go inside to talk about it. He, once again, explains how much he admired Young-soo and how it’s a win-win deal for everyone if they live together. Although Da-hye is against the idea, he proposes using his level of satisfaction while living there as a way to take care of the debt. Han-na realises it’s the way to stay in the house so she helps to convince Da-hye with her charms. Hae-joon is given a sheet to put stickers in there to show his satisfaction. He also asks to be treated as family.

Later, Da-hye is trying to put plates in a too high place, so Hae-joon comes from behind and helps her, invading her personal space and practically getting her pressed to his pecs. He finally steps back and gives her an envelope with money, the rent in advance. She thanks him, but he dismisses it as just business.

However, he gets in her personal space again, too close to his face and deals for a coffee she hands him all huffy. I’m pretty sure she put salt in it. Or something disgusting because he spits it all.

Hong-nan is practising with the punching bag when my love Seung-jae finds her. She wants to practise with him but he can block her too easily. He knows she went to President Ew’s house and warns her to be careful but she replies with how she handed the male model to Suk-chul. He reassures her she has nothing to do there. She tells him not to worry, she’ll get the store back for him. She also tells him she’ll leave in a month regardless of what he says, my love Seung-jae looks actually surprised and disappointed. I’m pretty sure he likes her!

When Hong-nan goes inside, Lee-yeon and Young-chan are sleeping together, and she watches them with fond eyes. Then we see Gi-tak watching them, with the same expression, laying down next to them, a hand around them, protecting them. Why couldn’t they be a family? I’m going to cry in my corner because of this.

Hae-joon now has to sleep on the second floor. Yet, he seems happy yo be there, surrounded in the smell of home, with the sounds of his house, like his father’s coughing, Da-hye and Han-na laughing. As our ahjussi Young-soo, he listens fondly, feeling at peace again. While he lies in the futon, he finds the pin Da-hye lost. Both as Hae-joon and Young-soo they watch it, kiss it.

Da-hye in her room, puts the envelope with the money in the drawer and finds the box with the necklace. Pretty and all, but Ji-hoon the Traitor chose it so I don’t like it. She doesn’t know it, though. The focus changes to the picture of her, Han-na and Young-soo.

The next morning she goes to wake up Hae-joon, annoyed that she has to deal with his underwear, and still half-asleep, he forgets he’s not Young-soo anymore and believes it was a dream. As she hits him with the pillow like a savage, he realises that the scary dream where she doesn’t recognise him will never end, because he’s really dead. And here I get my heart broken again.

For breakfast, the table look amazing with so much food and Hae-joon is annoyed, because that’s not normal in that family. He wanted to be treated like family, not to have special treatment. For that alone, there won’t be any grape sticker yet.

Hae-joon will drive Han-na to school, who is very impressed with the car. Before Da-hye gets in, he locks the door and glares at her. They leave her behind and cheer happily.

Somewhere else, my love Seung-jae opens the van to let Lee-yeon and Hong-nan out. They look gorgeous, but when the actress notices the other girl wearing her clothes and looking so good, asks to switch outfits. When they go out again, cute Young-chan exclaims how gorgeous Lighting Girl looks. Seuing-jae looks like he agrees, the cutie pie! But Lee-yeon asks to change again. This time, when they come out, Seung-jae stops Young-chan before he can say anything and make the girls switch outfits again. And now that that is over, they realise they are at the store. Oops. It seems Bitchy Actress manages to still annoy them.

And talking about Bitchy Actress, she’s thanking President Ew for helping and allowing the shooting to be there, but he did not do anything, what approved to let them shoot there was Hae-joon, who sings with a happy smile he also wears around.

As he walks with Manager Ma, who tries to convince he didn’t take bribery, Hae-joon starts showing kindness to all the workers so they won’t die of overworking, telling them to rest if their legs hurt and eat, even nap when necessary. Manager Ma tries to stop him and tell him it’s not okay, but all the employees are swooning over him and seeing him as the saviour, someone who finally fights and cares for them.

In his office, President Ew is frowning because of Hae-joon, and Bitchy Actress wants to seduce him a bit, but he won’t have anything and snaps at her. In her annoyance, she tells him there’s a special guest today and he should come.

The special guest, Lee-yeon, acts like everything is okay in front of the director, having a minor role is something she always wanted to try.

Hae-joon takes Da-hye to the same place Ji-hoon took her to eat, trying to get more comfortable with her, so she can know his taste and such. He puts meats for her and mentions how it’s been long since they had a meal together, however it’s the first time for her. He misses having someone watching over him while he eats. He makes her put some meat for him and his giggling is adorable. He also declares his desire to have more meals like that together.

Lee-yeon is in her waitress outfit, and with her elegance and beauty, she gets everyone to turn to stare at her, until she walks into President Ew who tries to burst her bubble, making snarky remake, trying to belittle her. He’s so ew.

Hae-joon makes an appearance, talking to Hong-nan and reporting to her how things are going for him. Seung-jae is walking by with Young-chan when the two are being super close. He looks so jealous my love! Why do I find that so amusing?

Hong-nan and Hae-joon, who is carrying Young-chan on his shoulders, stop President Ew from pestering Lee-yeon any further. The women and kid walk away and President Ew tries to tell Hae-joon to leave their families out, but why would he care about that when he showed no regard for Young-soo’s family? Uh?

Lee-yeon is acting, and Bitchy Actress is using her dialogues, clearly changing her lines because the crew doesn’t seem to recognise them, to sting Lee-yeon. Hong-nan gets angry and makes sure to do something about it, trying to get more light for Lee-yeon. Seung-jae has to take her in his arms and drag her out, screaming that she is beautiful and the best! When she acts, it’s with so much beauty and grace that everyone is watching her with mouths hanging open, even the camera man is bewitched, focusing solely on her.

Hong-nan runs to her after Bitchy Actress breaks the spell, she’s throwing all the compliments to Lee-yeon while President Ew and his secretary watch. The secretary offers to stop the shooting, but President Ew says it’s not necessary.

In the store, Ji-hoon is offering some candy to Da-hye, but before she takes it Hae-joon grabs it and acts all closely, making suggestions to leave together and have dinner and such. Ji-hoon is annoyed, and tries to stop him, accusing him of sexual harassment. Da-hye asks him to have a talk and follow her.

At the stairs, she intimidates him, making him look all small and scared while she shows her feisty personality, not letting him intimidate her. She’s older, it’s time to make the ranks work. When she leaves, he’s all flustered, having a proper fangirl attack.

Da-hye walks away, telling herself to be tough and not let Hae-joon think she’s a pushover. She runs into Ji-hoon then, tripping and breaking the heel of her shoe. She doesn’t even pick it, she just walks away when she sees Hae-joon approaching. Both men stay watching her with dreamy looks that change into murderous glares when they look at each other.

Out of the blue, Suk-chul shows up in front of President Ew. The latter asks about Hong-nan and Suk-chul tells about Seung-jae and that she is his little sister, but he’ll look more into it. It seems, President Ew offered the store to him. So disgusting, seriously, in his way to diss Suk-chul he even makes that other disgusting guy look nice. How can someone be so hateful? Suk-chul just laughs off the insult. I hope he’s planning to stab President Ew.

The wonderful four, Hong-nan, Seung-jae, Lee-yeon and Young-chan, go to get spicy rice cakes and fish cakes, enjoying the food so much. Hong-nan feeds both Lee-yeon and Seung-jae.

Da-hye is in the storage, getting rid of the other heel when Ji-hoon comes with a shoe box. He reveals new shoes for her he makes her trie on, while Hae-joon is just watching the Cinderella scene as he squeezes the heel in his hand. He turns around, not wanting to see that anymore, but missing how Da-hye rejects the shoes and gets back in her broken ones. She apologises for the grieve and misunderstandings she caused. Don’t give me that heartbroken expression, you traitor Ji-hoon! I shall not feel sorry for you.

Hae-joon calls Hong-nan about it, and she advises him not to lose his woman, telling him about what happened ten years ago, when he allowed Lee-yeon run to President Ew instead of being braver. Even now, he regrets it. That works to encourage Hae-joon, who realises he’s not Young-soo now, he’s Lee Hae-joon and he can use that. So he goes for Da-hye.

Smoothly, he spins her and makes her fall in his arms, but he tilts her down too much and she dislocates her hips, which ends up with her pulling his hair in revenge. Only when they get home, Hae-joon realises she didn’t accept the shoes.

When Hae-joon calls Hong-nan to report, she tells him to do everything he wanted to do but couldn’t before. So when Da-hye wakes up, it looks like a dream, with maids waiting for her, helping her get up with a cup of coffee, perhaps? She believes it’s a dream, with all that staff bowing to her, even their dog dressed as a princess. But then Hae-joon shows up she realises it isn’t a dream, this is actually happening. That’s a present for her, all that staff and things he bought, like the massage chair. But she yells at him for doing unnecessary things and makes him tell all the staff to go. So it’s up to the others to cook today. Da-hye watches with a smile that turns in a confused expression how Abeoji, Han-na and Hae-joon are having such a great time.

Hong-nan is annoying Seung-jae to fight while he folds clothes, but Hae-joon calls. Both Lee-yeon and Seung-jae react when she calls him yeobo and my love Seung-jae looks actually very annoyed. Hae-joon is in culinary emergency so Hong-nan offers to help, however Lee-yeon tags in and with her come Seung-jae and Young-chan.

The house is a bit crowded, but Hong-nan and Hae-joon are trying their best to make everyone know they are just friends. It kinda fails, they are too close and friendly, everyone watches them suspiciously. Young-chan is even glaring at Hae-joon! That’s so adorable.

Then it’s time for Hong-nan to show her wonderful chef skills! Everyone is watching impressed because she’s so quick and great. She almost brags she used to be a chef, but with a cautionary look from Hae-joon she stops herself and fixes it. Lee-yeon asks why Hae-joon is living there, Da-hye puts it simply: he’s a loan shark who’s just making sure she doesn’t sell the house. As the women start dissing the family Cha, Hong-nan tries to fight for Hae-joon but she can’t come up with anything good aside he’s handsome and has chocolate abs. Seung-jae, who’s playing Chinese chess with Abeoji is listening carefully, turning to hear better and tensing when the arm of massive destruction is mentioned.

Han-na is showing files with birds to Young-chan, but they bump with a folder she doesn’t recognise: Brown-eared Bulbul. Han-na asks out loud what that is and everyone reacts immediately. Hong-nan and Hae-joon run to take the kids away from the computer and delete the porn. Da-hye was in the bathroom, so she is the only one who doesn’t hear. Hong-nan doesn’t want Hae-joon to delete it and decide they have to share the porn, so they start fighting. When she’s about to go in the computer room, Lee-yeon and Sung-jae run to stop her.

Moaning is heard from he other side, so to cover up Lee-yeon and Seung-jae start to make sounds that have me laughing on the floor. Inside, Hong-nan is pleading with all her charms to stop him from deleting it, outside Lee-yeon is asking Da-hye to be friends. Back inside, in their fight, Hae-joon finally deletes the porn and Hong-nan breaks down, because she feels like losing her mind in without confirmation of her character. Hae-joon comforts her and promises to get her new stuff, but right then Da-hye opens the door and finds them on the floor, hugging each other. Lee-yeon and Seung-jae also see it and my love looks so angry! I’m so sure he likes her. This is so cute. I’m going to end up so heartbroken at the end.

Hae-joon kicks Hong-nan and the only one left watching is Lee-yeon, whose attention gets caught with the picture of Young-soo.

The actress is with the kids, Young-chan is really good with maths and Han-na with kids. She confesses she always wanted a younger sibling, and Da-hye eavesdrops as she tells how her father told her it was okay, it was better if he didn’t have to share his love with another kid and it was all for her. I wonder why they didn’t have another kid. Could it have been because of Da-hye? She looks guilty about it. Lee-yeon offers Han-na that she can be a noona to Young-chan, and both kids are happy about it. Da-hye comes out then, calling them to eat.

It’s a lovely time. Hae-joon watches his family eat happily, Hong-nan watches with the same loving but sad expression at Lee-yeon and Young-chan, and then they look at each other, faintly nodding and talking with just looks.

Han-na offers Hae-joon food, Da-hye looks at him then and for a while they only stare at each other, until she looks down and he feeds Abeoji. Even my love Seung-jae is watching with a smile on his lips the scene, until he notices Hong-nan was watching. Abeoji offers Seung-jae food then because he still has a lot to grow, and to light up the mood, Hong-nan teases he’s already too tall. Everyone ends up laughing and having a good time together.

Lee-yeon and Da-hye are having tea, or coffee, I can’t really see, together while talking, she says Young-soo was the only one kind to her before. They mention Hae-joon, who also looks like a good man. Outside, he's holding Han-na on his shoulders, having a good time. He notices her and winks, making her a bit flustered.

Then it’s late and both Da-hye and Hae-joon walk their guests, and after saying their goodbyes, he asks her to come with him to get a drink, but she’ll choose what to eat.

When they are walking, Lee-yeon mentions Hae-joon and how she doesn’t want her to get involved with that family, Hong-nan just laughs at how that could never be, besides, Hae-joon likes Da-hye. Seung-jae looks a bit surprised but glad to hear that, while Lee-yeon is going with a while fantasy and Hong-nan joins her. Seung-jae just watches them, shaking his head but amused. They all are so adorable.

Back to Da-hye and Hae-joon, he’s pouring drinks for her. She asks about his family, but his mother died young and he can’t even call Abeoji to his father. She asks about the person he loved and he mentions how he thought that for ten years they were doing well, but then realised it was’t like that. He asks that if he finds out everything he thought was a lie, then what does that make of his love? She tells him she was surely just doing her best to please him.

He mentions how she’s different from what he heard, regarding how she couldn’t hold her liquor but in fact it was that she just didn’t drink. At times, when she can’t sleep, just a few glasses make the trick. He watches her, realising that there are many things he didn’t know about her, things she wasn’t honest about like how she didn’t like pork belly and preferred chicken feet.

Hong-nan finalyl convinced Seung-jae to practise with her, but his mind is filled with the memory of her in Hae-joon’s arms. See? He’s jealous! But then he focuses a bit more, hitting her softly everything because she isn’t just fast. He even traps her and hits her more and more, while Lee-yeon watches from inside with a fond smile.

Young-chan is playing around and finds a picture of a young and beaten up guy with a small one holding boxing gloves. Isn't that Gi-tak when he was young?

Back to Da-hye and Hae-joon, she tells him to stop interfering, they are the ones who have to live without Young-soo, he asks her then who will replace him then. She doesn’t reply, and when she starts to say something, he asks if it can be he the one who replaces him.

The epilogue shows the real Hae-joon running around the isle, and then struggling to make fire… when the pilot had a lighter with him all along. I’m sure that if they ever get found out, he’ll be tally out of his mind.

BEL'S THOUGHTS

It's always lovely to watch this K-drama. It's heartbreaking but so funny at the same time and I believe the balance is well done. I felt during this episode, as we get closer to the deadline, the dread of that moment, because both a Hae-joon and Hong-nan are impacting the other character's lives, so what happened when they have to leave? Hae-joon was right, both Gi-tak and Young-soo are really dead, they can't come back forever. But I see Seung-jae falling for Hong-nan, Da-hye will probably develop feelings for Hae-joon if she isn't already, Han-na is growing attached to Hae-joon but they only have a month left. You feel my struggle? I want them to stay, but I know they can't. I bet I'm going to cry my eyes out for the ending. How do you feel about that?

Remember how I mentioned I didn't like Da-hye for the previous recap? It's not like I hate her, I just don't love her and I don't buy her honesty. There was so much she didn't say, things that shouldn't be an issue like "yeah, I don't like pork belly you know?" Things that pile up and create walls. One of our fellow K-drama watchers commented on thinking the exact opposite regarding that character, and it's as valid. I guess because I'm the opposite type of person as Da-hye, I can't stop questioning her and clashing with her views and attitude. I reckon the full picture isn't out yet, so there's more to see. I'm sure she was fond of Young-soo and all, but did she really love him or did she get married because he loved her? I don't know if I'm expressing my doubts clearly, but I guess I'll understand better my own feelings as the story progress. However, isn't it fun when you're in episode 9 and you still can't figure out how to feel about a character? When you realise you can't form a full opinion yet because there's more to know? It's fun waiting for more light to understand a character. We'll see how things change by the end, right? Maybe I'll end up understanding and loving her, or maybe I'll stick to my current opinion.

My favourite scene was when the kids found the porn and Hong-nan and Hae-joon were fighting over the files, with Lee-yeon and Seung-jae covering it up for them. I couldn't stop laughing, and feeling so embarrassed for them. That's such an unfortunate thing to happen. What was your favourite part?

Now we have to wait for the next episode, the preview made me anxious! So I'll see you all soon.
Bel, xx
