He gained recognition and won the New Actor Award for the drama Like a Flowing River. He continued to rise in fame and win accolades with strong roles in TV dramas and movies durring a 20-year career.

It's also worth noting that in Hur Jun, the Original Story (aka Guam Heo Joon), Kim Joo Hyuk played famous Joseon physician Heo Joon, the same character that his late father, actor Kim Mu Saeng, played in the 1975 drama series Tenacity. The leading man was also a popular member on the variety show 2 Days & 1 night: Season 3. His most recent drama Argon, where he was a reporter and news anchor, just completed its on-air broadcast in September.

Kim Joo Hyuk leaves behind two movies, Heungu and Dokjeon, to be released in 2018. Another movie, Outbreak, where he made a special appearance, is also slated to be released next year.

While we mourn the loss of Kim Joo Hyuk, we are also thankful for the many works that he leaves us to enjoy forever. For me, the most memorable role was Julian, from the Love Me Not movie, who was willing to sacrifice himself to protect the young woman he didn't realize he would fall for.

RIP Kim Joo Hyuk!
