One of Hollywood's biggest names has decided to star in the upcoming remake of the popular Japanese anime Ghost in the Shell. It was recently reported that Scarlett Johansson has signed to be in the upcoming DreamWorks adaptation of the film. 

Johansson's name was floated around for a while as the possible lead, but it wasn't until this week that sources were able to confirm that the actress was on board. The superstar will play the lead role of Major Motoko Kusanagi in the film which will take place in futuristic Japan.

In the film, Motoko Kusanagi is a part of the Public Security Section 9 that fights crime related to technology. The film will be directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman), and there is no official release date scheduled yet.
