About a dozen "cat islands", where the kitty population is far greater than the human population, surround Japan. One such island, Aoshima Island, is home to more than one hundred cats, who outnumber human residents six to one. As images of Japan's cat islands spread across the internet, residents of these quaint fishing villages are beginning to see a surge in tourists and journalists.
