Shin Eun Kyung and Jang Hee Jin join the cast of SBS murder mystery The Village
SBS is on a thriller roll right now with ratings beast Yong Pal following the popular Mask, and the trend isn't about to stop any time in the near future! Next on the docket is The Village, a murder mystery thriller that just signed veteran actress Shin Eun Kyung alongside Jang Hee Jin.
The Village is about a quiet, picturesque town with hardly any crime — until the discovery of an unidentified corpse turns peaceful village life upside down and brings hidden secrets to light. Melodrama veteran Shin Eun Kyung will play an artist who grew up in dirt-poor circumstances but married the richest man in the village. Shin is currently putting in a comedic role as Jo Jung Suk's mom in Oh My Ghostess, but it sounds like she'll be heading back to a darker role for this part.
Also joining the cast is Jang Hee Jin as an art teacher and mistress to the richest man in town. (The same "richest man" married to Shin Eun Kyung's character? Only time will tell!) She's an outsider to the village, so when she disappears, no one investigates thoroughly until other mysterious events occur. Like Shin Eun Kyung, Jang Hee Jin will be jumping directly into this project from her current role as the gisaeng in love with Lee Joon Ki's vampire on Scholar Who Walks the Night.
The Village comes from writer Do Hyun Jung (Que Sera, Sera and Can Love Become Money) and PD Lee Yong Suk (Iljimae, The Great Seer). It is set to premiere on SBS following the conclusion of Yong Pal in October.
