Signal's scriptwriter hints at possible season 2 to continue the riveting story
Korean suspense drama Signal is the fantastic thriller about detectives who are separated by space and time but are connected by a mysterious radio. It is not the usual crowd pleaser, but its excellent script, cast, and production have captured hearts and won praise from DramaFever fans, making it one of the 20 most highly rated dramas. Here's why it could have a season 2.
Spoiler Alert: I won't give away the ending here. However, if you want to learn more about some of the details in the plot, you can read this article to see why Signal is recommended by DramaFever staff, or read the recaps by our devoted recapping club HERE (episode 1 & 2).
If Signal gets a season 2, it would be a highly notable event as few K-dramas have had second seasons. The main reason is that the plot is a perfect set-up to continue the story.
After the highly rated and popular drama ended its run in South Korea, Korean viewers have been wondering about the possibility for a season 2. Passionate fans want to see more of the characters that we've come to care deeply for.
According to a recent interview, scriptwriter Kim Eun Hee said, "Honestly, I didn’t make this drama with seasons in mind. But since it’s the kind of story line that can continue for multiple seasons, it would be an honor if they decided to make another one.”
The writer emphasized, however, that if there is a season 2, it would have to be done properly.
She said, "A second season would only be meaningful if the three actors (Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, and Jo Jin Woong) were to return. If they can make their schedules work, I’d like to work with them and director Kim Won Seok again.”
Fans would agree wholeheartedly.
If you haven't watched this fantastic drama, now is the time to start.
I've watched the entire series and commented on it frequently in my Weekly Top 10 column. Many viewers have praised the awesome script that is so riveting and so tightly wound that the twists and turns have kept us enthralled and captivated.
And yet, I think the moment I got hooked on the drama started with the very beginning, when I first heard the hauntingly beautiful opening theme song.
