Have you been asking yourself what a theatre company in Singapore would do if they got their hands on classic German fable Hansel & Gretel?  Of course you have.  And lucky for you, theatre company W1LD RICE has answered your prayers and created a live-action musical extravaganza—with a twist.

For those of you familiar with the original, this production takes a bit of creative license in bringing the story from page to stage (zing!).  Here's the basic run: Hansel (Dwayne Tan) And Gretel (Denis Tan), two fraternal twins, live the happy life with their father (Dwayne Lau) in Queenstown, NZ.  Happiness fades fast when their father invites a wannabe-singer/YouTube "sensation" named Cassandra (Vernetta Lopez) to come and live with them.  Cassandra, we quickly learn, has one thing in this world that drives her crazy: CHILDREN.  In need of a new walk-in closet, she gathers "Pencil" and "Kettle" and abandons them deep in the Mandai forest.  It's up to Hansel and Gretel to find a way back home, and a wacky adventure ensues.  Sounds like a good time to us! The show closed this past weekend, but fear not, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest is up next!

What fairy tale would you like to see adapted with a twist?
