Some apartments in Japan now come furnished with a cat
It's a beautiful thing to buy or rent an apartment that comes furnished. You get to have the satisfying experience of walking into your new pad and saying a slew of fun things like,"Wow, cool dishwasher!" or "Great couch!" And now thanks to a unique program in Japan, you can add, "Whoa, is that a cat?!" to the list.
The animal protection group Tokyo Cat Guardian has been implementing a new program that links friendly apartment renters with rescued cats. The program is called Cat Mansion and was started by Yoko Yamamoto who hopes that it will help reduce the number of stray cats that are slaughtered each year.
So far, Cat Guardian has been widely successful as it has spread to over 20 properties including homes in Kanagawa and Tokyo. Cat Guardian is even looking to expand the program to boarding houses. The organization also makes sure to take proper precautions to ensure that the prospective cat owner is fit for the program.
