The New York Times picked Stranger (Secret Forest), starring Cho Seung Woo and Bae Doo Na, as one of the best international TV shows of 2017!

As part of the 2017 Year in Review series, The New York Times selected the 10 best TV shows that aired in the United States, 10 best international shows, and 10 best shows that ended in 2017. Stranger (Secret Forest) was the only show from South Korea to be on the list.

Describing this drama, The New York Times wrote, “The murder mystery ‘Stranger’ has less of the usual awkwardness and obviousness of many South Korean dramas as well as another big advantage: It stars the immensely likable Bae Doo-na as a fearless cop.”

Stranger was pre-produced in May 2017, and it premiered the next month. After its finale, Stranger became tvN’s top rated series of 2017. The Descendants of the Sun screenwriter Kim Eun Sook picked Stranger as her favorite drama as well.

The Stranger production team is planning a season 2, with a tentative premiere date of Fall 2018, Ilgan Sports reported last month.

In Stranger, an emotionless prosecutor (Cho Seung Woo) teams up with a passionate officer (Bae Doo Na) to catch a serial killer, but the corruption they know is even more dangerous than the stranger they don’t. You can read more about Stranger here and check out the teaser video here.
