Thanks for joining us for this edition of the Strongest Deliveryman Drama Club! This drama has been a series and ups and downs so far, most noticeably when it comes to the relationships between our two male leads. They're cold, then they're hot, then super cold, and now it seems like we've moved into a lukewarm state of being in their relationship.

Join DeShonda, June, OhSoEntuhsiastic, Tiara, and me (Logan) - as we discuss the future of our characters' relationships.

Logan: The bromance is back! I’ve got to admit I was surprised. I was hoping the feelings between Jin Gyu and Kang Soo could be remedied eventually, but I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. But then again, just as they’ve begun to reconcile they’ve got another hurdle to deal with - Dan Ah. They both made it clear to each other that they have special sort of feelings for her. It’ll be interesting to see if these pits them against each other again or if they can remain civil.

DeShonda: I am so happy that the bromance is back between Jin Gyu and Kang Soo. I knew early on that the both of them would fall for Dan Ah. Love Triangles are always difficult in K Dramas. I am wondering how this is going to pan out. Dan Ah clearly has strong feelings for Kang Soo. And the more I watch, the more I want her and Kang Soo to be together. I think they are a better match. She is fighting tooth and nail to cover up her feelings for him. I just want her to let him know how much she really likes him.

June: The bromance is back, but I knew it wouldn't last long before something else happened. Literally, the biggest K-Drama trope is brought into play, but I can't say that I'm not surprised. I knew it was going to happen. I agree with you DeShonda! The more I see Dan Ah with Kang Soo, the more I want them to be together. So I'm definitely on Team Kang Soo.

OhSoEnthusiastic: Broooomaaaance!!! Although it was more bromance-lite than a true bromance, but hey! I’ll take it! And then some! While I do think the two of them are definitely going to go toe to toe with each other in an effort to win Dan Ah’s affections (because Jin Gyu doesn’t really like being told no, lol), I’m not foreseeing things getting bad again between them. At least not over this. I feel like they’ve crossed a major hurdle in their budding friendship, and a girl isn’t going to be enough to mess things up.

Tiara: It’s nice to see Jin Gyu finally understand his actions played to Kang Soo’s friend (actually half-brother) coma. I’m glad to see Jin Gyu finally apologizes evening if he had to be dragged there to do it. The bromance is kind as the next round of problems with the restaurant and both their feelings for Dan Ah and we can’t forget Ji Yoon. This square is only going to be messy, but I liked Kang Soo’s comment to Jin Gyu. It isn’t up to them at who Dan Ah has feelings for as it’s is Dan Ah herself who will have to make the choice. I’m with June in I’m on Team Kang Soo.

Logan: She has a really unique way of expressing her emotions - but I’m glad Kang Soo sees right through it. She started to soften with him a little at first, but when she realized what she was doing she did a complete 180. She needs a guy like Kang Soo who is kind and patient and can bring the sweetness out of her that she has tried so desperately to hide and I thinks he’s good for Kang Soo too - tells him to set some boundaries and take care of himself. I’m all for this couple.

DeShonda: Dan Ah is expressing her love for Kang Soo in a very interesting way. I call it “Elementary School Love.” For example, she hits Kang Soo which means that she likes him. It’s just a little love tap. LOL. But I do like the way that Kang Soo is handling it. And I think it’s cute that he has feelings for her. And I agree with you Logan, the both of them really balance each other out very well. I really love that the noodle shop owners are trying to set them up together as well. The two of them are cracking me up!

June: I agree with you both completely with this! I think they are good for each other and would bring out the best traits in each other. Haha, Elementary school love is the perfect way to explain these two! The two shop owners trying to set them up is so hilarious and I love it!

OhSoEnthusiastic: I’m torn on how Dan Ah’s dealing with her feelings. On the one hand, I get it. She’s been making plans for so long to emigrate and have a new life. She even cut off her own family to do so (granted, that probably wasn’t quite as hard as it normally would be considering her family). So it makes sense that she wouldn’t want to make any romantic ties just before she leaves. But on the other hand, it’s frustrating to watch her fight it so hard, when they’re clearly right for each other. But it looks like next week’s episodes might bring about a change of plans for Dan Ah. I think Kang Soo leaving will really push her into action.

Tiara: Haha elementary school love is the best description for these two. Dan Ah is like the lone wolf without a pack. She’s had to grow up so quickly because of her horrible parents. Her dream of leaving Korea has been the only way for her to keep on living. However, Kang Soo is changing her mind. He’s shown her a pack is stronger together. The question is if finding a new wolf pack is worth giving up the only thing that has kept her alive.

Logan: There are couples everywhere. We have the shop owners and then we have Ji Yoon and Jin Gyu too. While they’re nowhere near romance at this point - they did learn that they are both quite kind. That’s not really a surprise to us viewers, but it’s something they didn’t realize about each other at first. I loved that both of them had such a soft spot for those in need that they practically gave all of Ji Yoon’s designer goods away.

DeShonda: I think that Ji Yoon and Jin Gyu compliment each other very well. Both of them have more in common than they realize. I think they secretly like each other. And I absolutely loved the scene in the coffee shop when Ji Yoon was selling her handbags. The both of them worked together very well. I think their relationship can be described as “Elementary School Love” as well. For example, Ji Yoon expresses her feelings by being annoying to Jin Gyu. Well…..they are getting on each others' nerves actually. But one thing that I am happy about is that Kang Soo’s friend is Ok, however, I didn’t expect for them to be related.

June: I think that they are more suited for each other than they think too. I think they are just in that I don't think I like you but maybe I will in the near future. Either way, totally loved that scene with her selling the handbags and I'm glad we got to see a better side of Jin Gyu.

OhSoEnthusiastic: I am flying my Ji Yoon/Jin Gyu flag with pride. They have literally the best scenes together, and I spend every episode waiting to see them on another one of their ‘faux’ dates, lol. I’m iffy on bickering between drama couples because it can often be incredibly tedious, but they do it so well. You can See the sparks flying every time they’re together. They really are very complimentary.

Tiara: Ji Yoon and Jin Gyu come from the same background. Yi Joon’s mom doesn’t see her able to take over the family business. Instead, she’s been expected to stay in the background and do as she’s told. Jin Gyu had a father who didn’t want him in the business for fear of son against son. He too was told to never be seen or heard unless spoken too. It isn’t surprising they have chemistry together evening if they don’t want to see it. They both have been blinded by the kindness of Kang Soo and Dan Ah. I like seeing both of them try to branch out on their own. It’s just a shame Jin Gyu is working for a mom who wants to destroy every restaurant in her path

Logan: Jin Gyu and Ji Yoon both have a lot in common. They both want to distance themselves from their family’s behaviors in one way or another. I’m glad that we’re seeing some character development in Jin Gyu too. I saw how hard it was for him to apologize to Hyun Soo. I honestly didn’t think he was going to do it when Kang Soo brought it up. I thought it was going to become a point of contention. But I think Kang Soo knows that Jin Gyu has a good heart and knew that if he gave him a push he’d do the right thing. I’m really glad he did. Kang Soo was right, Jin Gyu would have never felt at ease if he hadn’t apologized.

DeShonda: Logan, I agree with everything you said. I am so glad that Jin Gyu apologized as well. But the scene with the Grandmother just bought me to tears, and Jin Gyu too! I thought her speech of forgiveness to Jin Gyu was so heartfelt, honest, and real. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.

June: That scene really almost made me cry! I was holding it in so bad! Haha! But seriously, this feels like a character turning point for Jin Gyu and I'm really glad he apologized. It was the right thing to do and it's something that was needed.

OhSoEnthusiastic: I’m pleased with how that plot point was resolved as well, because it just reinforced what it really has seemed to me like the writers were trying to do with his character. His bad behavior from before wasn’t out of maliciousness or an inability to care about others. He was scared and felt backed into a corner, and no one has really ever expected anything out of him before, so he ran from the responsibility. No one ever thought him capable of being human, so he just never bothered trying. I was a little miffed at first with grandma, because it felt like she was letting him off the hook, but then he made that genuine apology, and I got it. He just needed someone to tell him it was ok.

Tiara: Grandma granting Jin Gyu giveness is huge. It’s a great way to wrap up the accident with another act of kindness. Maybe with all the goodness for Kang Soo and Grandma will rub off on him because I’m not liking the evilness coming from Ji Yoon’s mom.

Logan: Yes, that scene got to me too! I’m a sucker for forgiveness in a drama. It’ll make me cry more than almost anything else. It was very touching to me to see that rather than “justice” or lectures or being beaten up, the thing that actually broke through to Jin Gyu and got him to face what happened was forgiveness, kindness, and love. I love that detail. Another detail I loved - the fact that Kang Soo and Hyun Soo are actually brothers!! What!?! But why is Kang Soo’s mom hiding from him. I don’t like that at all. How dare she hurt him like that?

DeShonda: I mentioned this earlier that Jin Gyu needed a wake-up call and he got it. I was happy to see this breakthrough in his character! I was also surprised to discover that Kang Soo and Hyun Soo are brothers! I did not see that plot coming at all! It didn’t dawn on me that they have the same name. But I was wondering as well, why would his mother hide the fact that they are brothers? There was something briefly in the epilogue of the first episode about Kang Soo’s parents, but I will have to go back and rewatch that part for I can’t remember the details. I wonder how Kang Soo is going to take the news that he has a brother?

June: It looks like there needs to be some explaining done! I won't lie, I loved that they threw this into the mix because I would have never expected it! So good job to the writers for that!

OhSoEnthusiastic: I’m actually not super into the ‘their secret brothers!’ plot twist, because it seems unnecessary and cliche, but I’m all for the emotional rollercoaster ride that’s going to be his journey to finding his mom, so I’ll take a surprise sibling in order to get it. I want to know why she left. What happened? Why did she take one son but not the other? I’m going to need a reallllllly good explanation in order to not be totally pissed at her for abandoning Kang Soo. (I don’t do child abandonment stories well.)

Tiara: Hyun Soo and Kang Soo being brothers is a great twist that like most of you, I didn’t see coming either. Considering Kang Soo’s mom supposedly left with his father’s money, she doesn’t look to be living the life. I wonder if she did take the money and run what was it for or is there more to the story than it appears to be.

I think we can all agree that whatever the future holds for this gang, it's definitely not going to be dull. Come back and visit us again next week as we continue to discuss this delightful drama.
