Photographer Rose-Lynn Fisher has used powerful scanning electron microscopes to photograph microscope structures of dried human tears that are too small to be seen by the naked eye. These photos show that tears produced with different emotions, such as joy and grief, can look vastly different.

These photos are from Fisher's "Topography of Tears,"  and they look like abstract paintings.
