Taiwanese designers create LUNA, a magical lantern that brings the moon to your world
An indiegogo campaign out of Taiwan has now collected an astounding 726% of their goal of 40,000 US dollars, currently having received over $290,495. And the craziest part of all this is that there are still 39 days left for fans of their LUNA moon lantern to donate even more of their money to this talented team out of Taiwan.
Humans have always felt a sense of awe and wonder when looking at our closest neighboring celestial object in the night sky. But as we all know, the moon isn't always available for us modern humans to see. Clouds may interfere, or maybe even skyscrapers, city lights, and even pollution may alter the view. But with LUNA, a lantern designed by a team of Taiwanese designers at Acorn Studio, you can now bring the Moon into your own home to illuminate your world. Coming in seven sizes, from 3.2 inches to 23.6 inches in diameter, LUNA's luminosity can also be adjusted with a special device. Because of the unexpected success of this campaign, all LUNA lanterns will now be illuminated by LED lights, which have a lifespan of 10 long years. These lunar lanterns also come with a cord, so you can hang them from your ceiling with a nylon string if you so wish. The price range is from 65 dollars to 875 dollars, depending on the size. They sound a bit pricey, but you remember you are pretty much bringing the moon to your own space. LUNA is specifically created to resemble the lunar surface, molded to perfection with glass fiber and water-resistant latex coating. The detail is what makes this lantern so special.
Mass production is scheduled for December of 2015, and the shipments will take place in the first half of 2016. For those of you who want to bring the wonder of the moon into your own home, checking out Studio Acorn's indiegogo page is a definite must.
