This photo with a touching story is trending in Asia. It shows Mint Kanistha, the beautiful Miss Uncensored News Thailand 2015, adorned with a glittering tiara and the winner's sash, as she kneels to a plainly dressed woman in front of a row of filthy trash cans. Her story has led to heartfelt tears and much inspiration.

17-year-old Mint Kanistha of Thailand grew up in poverty. Her mother makes a living by collecting and recycling trash. The family is so poor that Mint could not afford to go to college after she graduated from high school.

Despite their impoverished living condition, Mint has never been ashamed of her background or what her mom does. She has maintained an optimistic outlook. She also helps her family by working on many menial jobs, including assisting her mom in collecting trash and sorting recyclables.

When friends encouraged her to enter a beauty pageant, Mint decided that she would try. And guess what — she just won the title of Miss Uncensored News Thailand 2015.

The first thing that Mint did after winning the crown is to return home to thank her mom. The highest form of showing gratitude and respect for many Asians is to kneel. Mint did not hesitate to kneel down to thank her mother in front of a row of dirty trash cans.

Mint said, "What I have today is because of my mother. She and I make a living by doing honest work, so there is no reason why I should feel inferior."*

Many people are successful in life thanks to the sacrifices made by their parent(s). After reading about Mint Kanistha and her mother, is there anyone you would like to thank for what you've achieved?

Congratulations to Mint, and we hope her pageant win will shine a bright new future for her.
