The 8 best K-dramas to watch this Valentine's Day
There are so many great romantic K-dramas that it is hard to narrow it down to the best of the best. Since 2004, I have watched my share of daily and weekly K-dramas. I have even tried a Japanese or Taiwanese series or two. Today, I want to share with you the K-dramas that captured my heart from day one.
The eight dramas listed below are absolute treasures that deserve to be watched again and again. Whether you have a date this Valentine's Day or not, don't forget to curl up on the couch and enjoy some of these classic love stories.
1. Summer Scent
How can you not love a drama with Song Seung Hun in it? When your heart beats for someone and the whole audience can hear it, that has to be the ultimate love story! This drama is all about following your heart, even if it was someone else's first. I fell in love with it in 2006; now it is your turn!
2. Angel Eyes
Mom literally gives her eyes to you, and you fall in love with her son. That sounds a bit creepy, but this heartbreaking tale is about loving someone for a decade without ever seeing their face. The love for them grows even more when you view them through new eyes.
A May/December romance at its finest! Imagine falling in love with a older man and his three bratty children. Da Jung puts the age gap aside and truly loves a distinguished Prime Minister for who he is.
This drama is a stalker's dream. A single lady falls head over heels in love with fellow music student. She decides to follow him everywhere. He is initially repulsed by her, until one day he realizes he can't live without her. This scenario is impossible in real life, but perfect for a K-drama.
Watch Ji Sung and Hwang Jung Eum reunite to face seven different personalities trapped in one body in Kill Me, Heal Me:
Who doesn't want two handsome rich guys fighting over them? Expensive meals, gifts, trips, and makeovers await the girl who wins Jun Pyo's heart. Ji Hoo is right there to serenade and wine and dine. My favorite episodes are when model Ha Jae shows up to complicate things.
I loved seeing Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin Hye end up together in this sweet music-infused series. Traditional and modern music may clash on stage, but the leading stars' hearts make beautiful music together. A cold-hearted male musician quickly warms up to a lady with deep roots in South Korea's cultural music.
7. Dream High
City girl meets country boy. He instantly falls in love with the snobby girl and follows her home. The pair attend an incredible music school together. However, their happy ever after is interrupted by another city boy, her family's financial issues, the country boy's mysterious hearing loss, and so much more. They eventually find love, and the journey is so worth it!
A perfect fake marriage. When was the last time you had to fake a marriage with a heartthrob to avoid marrying a handsome rich guy? It happened to Mary! Well, this series is hilarious, heartwarming, and just plain fun. It's a laid-back love story that shows how love can come out of unlikely circumstances.
Which one will you be watching on February 14?
