If there is any doubt as to how good Studio Ghibli genius Hayao Miyazaki is, take a look at these incredible pixilated stills from his films. There have been many tributes to the master filmmaker since he announced his retirement, and now you can definitely add this one to the already impressive list.

Using innovative digital art, Richard J. Evans recreated several of the iconic images from Hayao Miyazaki's films in pixilated form. Normally, anything that is pixilated typically has a diminished and distorted feel, but these screen shots still capture much of the spirit of Hayao Miyazaki's movies. Obviously the images aren't as clear as his films, but the fact that they still hold up illustrates their incredibly powerful artistic qualities.
