9 K-pop idols who have proven themselves as talented actors
There was a time when it was looked down upon for an idol to act in a drama because often their acting skills weren't proven and their established popularity as a singer was what landed them a dramas' leading role. Times have changed, and K-pop idols don't get a head start in dramas anymore. The K-pop stars who wish to start their acting career begin small by taking supporting roles, and if they do well, they move on to bigger roles. The 9 actors below started small, but have now become established actors.
9. Lee Jun Ho
Kim Woo Bin's Twenty was 2PM Junho's first leading role. Before Twenty, Junho had played only supporting roles, adding small works to his filmography. He is one of the talented K-pop idols-turned-actors, and we hope to see him more often on the screen.
8. Lee Ho Won
Infinite's Hoya is not just another regular star. When his latest drama Mask premiered, which also stars actress Park Soo Ae, Hoya said, "I want to show others, as an actor and not as an idol, that I can work hard to play my character well ... I’m very excited to be in Mask, and it’s an honor to be a part of this with director Bu Sung Chul and writer Choi Ho Chul. I’m filming very well, thanks to the caring director and all the kind staff members."
7. Jung Eun Ji
Like Infinite's Hoya, Apink's Eunji also got her start in acting through Answer Me 1997 in 2012. A year after, she played a supporting role with Kim Bum on That Winter The Wind Blows. Eunji reunited with Hoya and met BTOB's Sungjae on Answer Me 1994 (2013).
I wish T.O.P wasn't so busy with BigBang because he is definitely one of the actors I want to see more often on screen (Lee Min Ho is also on this list). T.O.P already had his acting skills acknowledged when he was the Rookie of the Year at the 2011 Paeksang Arts Awards. Iris and Tazza 2 are some of the works on his filmography. Last month, T.O.P's Japanese-Korean web series Secret Message premiered on DramaFever.

4. Choi Si Won
Before Super Junior's Siwon starred on She Was Pretty with Park Seo Joon and Hwang Jung Eum, he had filmed numerous dramas dating back to 2004. Oh! My Lady, Athena: Goddess of War and the Taiwanese drama Skip Beat are three more of the 18 dramas he has filmed. Siwon is serving his duties in the military now. Before he left for the military, Siwon gave a cute video interview on work, love, friends, family and religion.
3. Bae Su Ji
Miss A Suzy made a debut through the high school drama Dream High with Kim Soo Hyun back in 2011. Since then, she has made her film debut on Architecture 101. Last month, Suzy's second film Dorihwaga (Sound of a Flower) premiered, and many of her friends visited the Dorihwaga VIP screening to congratulate Suzy.
2. Do Kyung Soo
EXO's D.O is just so adorable. After starring as Jo In Sung's doppelgänger in It’s Okay, That’s Love, D.O is currently filming the family movie Hyung with actors Jo Jung Suk and Park Shin Hye. By the way, did you watch D.O perform Growl without shoes because of a slippery stage?
1. Lee Hye Ri
Honestly, Girls’ Day's Hyeri doesn't look all that pretty in Answer Me 1988, but watch clips of Hyeri on Hyde, Jekyll, and I or in Girls' Day performances and you'll fall in love with her. Hyeri mentioned earlier this week that she used to feel anxious about filming Answer Me 1988 without any makeup on, but felt grateful that the audiences liked her natural look.
Just like the other talented idol-turned-actors on this list, Hyeri was scrutinized before filming Answer Me 1988, but Hyeri's acting skills surprised the critics. Check out Hyeri on Answer Me 1988 below!
