We never knew stone could be this cool. A Japanese artist named Hirotoshi Ito has recently made a series of incredible and surreal sculptures. Incorporating several optical illusions, Hirotoshi Ito was able to shape and form these stone sculptures in a way that has never been done before. The artist, who is a graduate from Tokyo National Fine Arts University, wanted to use stone to explore the softer side of the material known for its sturdy and cumbersome mass.

The sculptures all have unique etchings and designs, including zipper lines right down the middle. The effect makes many of the hardened stones look like purses. The artist even goes so far as to show a knife cutting through stone as if it were butter. Check out this incredible ground-breaking series!
