If you took one look at this breathtaking street art by Mademoiselle Maurice, you would never guess that her majestic creations are origami. Hailing from Paris, France, Maurice spent time in Japan where she learned the fine art of origami. She was also in the country during the earthquake in 2011, and she says that the event inspired many of her pieces.

Her works take several days to create and uses thousands of folded pieces of colorful paper to perfect a larger masterpiece. Maurice said, "All the geometric form used are like an abstract representation of a huge idea of the world like harmony, spirituality and more…"

Sometimes she even uses volunteers from schools and organizations to help her finish her work. The artist mentioned that one of her goals is to add color and flavor to the often stale and drab nature of life in a big city.
