Whenever my mom let me dress myself as a kid, I would usually always end up wearing a superhero costume. So it's no surprise to me that when artist/photographer Elly Heise wanted to shoot a series of what it would look like if mothers let their daughters do their makeup, the results were absolutely amazing.

The project is called #Daughterdoesmymakeup and features nine photographs of moms in the makeup chosen by their daughters. The photographs show the creative and wild nature of the daughters' imaginations while also really making you rethink our often stringent standards of beauty.

Heise said of the series, "This project was inspired through my attempts to see beauty the way I used to as a child. I wanted to gain a better understanding through photography by trying to photograph what each girl saw when she saw her mother. I also wanted to pay homage to the amazing and inspiring role that these hardworking women play in their daughters' lives."

The kids applied vibrant pastel colors to their moms' faces without any regard for where makeup is normally placed. And we are so much better off for it!
