Last Friday a mystery foam starting appearing across a popular Tokyo street in Ginza leaving many to wonder if this was, in fact, the apocolypse. You can imagine people's reactions as they were walking down the street and seeing suds of foam flowing across their feet.
Ah, but the explanation is a simply one: Asahi News reported that the source of the foam was the Shiodome Hamarikyu Building, which houses a production company that was filming a commercial at the time. The company reportedly dumped forty liters of body soap down a thirteenth floor drain, causing the first floor draining pipe to overflow with foam.
Police and firefighters arrived on the scene to help shovel the foam, as onlookers looked on puzzlingly. No word on why the production company did this or if they face any sort of punishment.
