2016 is already half way over, but it’s not too early to start thinking about which celebrities rose in or maintained popularity among fans. Using online data, Taiwanese website, Daily View, put together a list of the top 10 male Korean stars from January 24 thru July 24. Can you guess the full list and who nabbed number one? Here is the complete list in order from 10 to one! 


10. Jo In Sung

Jo In Sung started his entertainment career as a model in 1998. His most recent dramas include That Winter, the Wind Blows (2013) and It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014).

9. Park Hae Jin

Park Hae Jin has been filming dramas since 2006 with Famous Chil Princesses. Drama titles with the actor include: East of Eden (2008), My Love from Another Star (2013), and Doctor Strange (2014). This year, he’s enjoying a surge in popularity from his role as Yoo Jung in Cheese in the Trap.

8. T.O.P (BIG BANG)

Choi Seung Hyun, better known as his stage name T.O.P, is the only idol-actor on this list. He debuted as a BIGBANG member in 2006 and started acting in 2007 with I am Sam. His most recent drama is the 2015 Korean and Japanese co-produced short series, Secret Message.

7. Lee Jong Suk

Lee Jong Suk debuted as a model and actor at the age of 15. His best known works include: School 2013 (2012), I Hear Your Voice (2013), Pinocchio (2014), and Doctor Stranger (2014).

6. Kim Woo Bin

Kim Woo Bin started out as a model in 2009 and began his acting career in 2011. Currently, he can be seen in Uncontrollably Fond with Bae Suzy.


5. Park Bo Gum

Park Bo Gum is the youngest actor on this list. The 23-year-old has had a solid entertainment career so far from dramas like Answer Me 1988, films, hosting, to multiple commercial deals.


4. So Ji Sub

So Ji Sub is the most seasoned actor on this list, acting since 1996. He’s had a steady stream of filming popular dramas such as I’m Sorry, I Love You (2004), Cain and Abel (2009), and his most recent hit being 2015’s Oh My Venus.


3. Kim Soo Hyun

Kim Soo Hyun debuted as an actor in 2007 picking up a lot of interest along the way, but it wasn’t until 2011’s Dream High that it truly popularized him. The Moon that Embraces the Sun (2012) catapulted him to Hallyu superstardom and My Love from Another Star (2014) only further strengthened his brand and status.


2. Lee Min Ho

Lee Min Ho’s star power has stayed strong since his 2009 role as Goo Joon Pyo in Boys Over Flower. Don’t expect his popularity to change (just, maybe, this lists’ ranking): he’s set to make a return to the small screen with The Legend of the Blue Sea co-starring popular actress, Jeon Ji Hyun.

1. Song Joong Ki

After returning from mandatory military service in May 2015, Song Joong Ki’s first project was fittingly as Captain Yoo Shi Jin in Descendants of the Sun. The drama and cast experienced immense popularity for 2016, but Song Joong Ki fever was over the top from his passport information and photo being leaked to the public security in China issuing a warning about him.
