Earlier this summer, BIGBANG member T.O.P plead guilty to all drug-related charges of which he was accused. Now, after receiving a sentence at his final trial, T.O.P has apologized to the public and expressed regret for his actions.

On July 20, T.O.P was sentenced to two years of probation, along with a small fee of 12,000 won (approx. $10.7). The court declared, “The defendant has acknowledged all of the charges made against him and has been found guilty. Drug-related crimes not only hurt the individual’s health but it can also have major negative effects on society as a whole, so there is no choice but to give a severe punishment. However, we have taken into consideration that the defendant is sincerely self-reflecting, and that he does not have any previous criminal offenses.” Should T.O.P violate the conditions of his probation, the rapper will be faced with ten months of imprisonment.

With this in mind, he will be required to finish his mandatory military service. Due to the fact that his suspended prison sentence is less that 18 months in length, the police agency that he served must decide between assigning him a new position or allowing him to continue serving as a conscripted police officer for the remainder of his enlistment.

Following his sentencing, T.O.P apologized to the press, bowing his head in shame, stating, "I am currently reflecting on my actions. There are no other words to express how sorry I am." He also expressed that he had, and currently has, no intention of appealing to a higher court, as he has vowed to "live with a brand new heart for now on." In the future, the rapper intends to focus on completing his military enlistment instead, declaring, "Depending on the probation terms, I will do my best to serve in the military."

We hope that T.O.P completes his probation successfully and wish him the best of luck in his future in the military!
