It may be less than two minutes long, but this touching animation short just released exclusively in Japan has Ghibli written all over it.

When you have "principal animator for Studio Ghibli" on your resume, finding work is not all that hard. Yoshiharu Sato, who was one of the main animators for films like Kiki's Delivery Service, The Cat Returns, and The Secret World of Arriety, recently directed an animated shochu commercial titled Oyaji no Imo no Kamisama, or Dad's Potato God. The company that enlisted Sato's services is called Satsuma Shuzo, known for their Shiranami sweet potato shochu. The one minute and thirty second-long spot is basically a super short Studio Ghibli film, so it's definitely worth a viewing if you're a fan.

The talented Sato has not only worked on Ghibli films like My Neighbor Totoro and The Dog of Flanders, but even on popular animation Lupin the III. And now he's even made a shochu commercial look beautiful. Potato shochu is delicious, by the way.

Here is the clip of Dad's Potato God, directed by Yoshiharu Sato.
