[caption id="attachment_22895" align="alignleft" width="383" caption="Cha In Pyo and Ko Hyun Jung"][/caption] The Korean Broadcasting, Film and Performing Arts Labor Union has gone on strike in response to unpaid wages amounting to nearly 3.5 million dollars US. The discrepancy seems to stem from networks hiring outside production companies while only being required to pay for 50-60 percent of actual production costs, leaving employees at the mercy of middlemen. The cast and crew of finished series (Pasta and A Man Called God) have complained of not being paid, so the strike gives these workers some leverage to be paid for their work. Although some series such as Playful Kiss already have a buffer of filmed episodes to run while the matter is ironed out, other dramas, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho in particular, tape much closer to their air date, and will probably be forced to go on hiatus. This summer's big hit Baker King Kim Tak Gu narrowly avoided being shut down, with an agreement being reached only three minutes before the strike was announced. When the dust settles and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho returns, You're Beautiful fans have a lot to look forward to: the return of A.N.Jell! Jang Geun Suk, Jung Yong Hwa and Lee Hong Ki have agreed to reprise their roles in a cameo on a t0-be-determined episode of the Hong Sisters hit. Odagiri Joe and Watanabe Ken's upcoming special drama Hei no Naka no Chuugakou marks a first for Japan--it's being filmed inside an actual Japanese prison. Coming after the first public look inside a Japanese execution chamber, is this a sign of increased openness concerning the nation's notorious prison system? China's GTV has snagged Park Shin Hye to co-star with George Hu in an adaptation of the manga series Hayate the Combat Butler. George, who says he's already adept at the butler part, is currently in training to beef up his combat skills. After meeting his new co-star, he described Park as "very quiet, skinny, and very cute." Know what else is skinny? Won Bin's head. It's as small as a little boy's. This photo proves it and has won Won praise from those fans who care about these things. Hopefully he won't get a big head from all the compliments. IRIS star Lee Byung Hun has confirmed that he will not appear in IRIS 2. His agent says that G.I. Joe 2 will take up most of his time for the foreseeable future, presumably meaning that Lee has his eye on larger roles that will get him more of an international audience. New stills from the political drama Daemul show Ko Hyun Jung looking a bit dowdy in her role as President, especially sitting across from the well-styled Cha In Pyo. As the article notes, perhaps a makeover is part of the storyline... Finally, Lee Da Hae is reportedly on a corn and sweet potato diet. But is it supposed to help you gain weight or lose it? Either way, she released a few pics of her "cheating" by nibbling a few extra kernels.
