Wacky: Chinese Fashionistas Go Crazy for “Grandpa Style Women’s Clothing”
A seller marketing goods on Taobao (mainland China’s homegrown Amazon-style marketplace) made headlines when it featured photos of a 72-year-old male model under the description “Grandpa Style for Women” (the Chinese text read 女装外公style).
The owner of the store, named Ting, said she had no intention of starting an internet meme of fashionable cross dressing grandfathers. She simply had a new shipment of clothing and no model to try them on. When she asked her grandfather, she had no idea how happily he would agree to model for the website.
Whatever the origin, the results speak for themselves. In a single day, the online shop did more than two months worth of business.
Does it make you want to wear any of these fashions?
