Watch Buddhist nuns rap during a prayer competition
When you think nuns, you think hardcore hip hop. Ok, you know we have to be kidding because those two things usually go together about as well as robots and water. But some very brave and very cool nuns in a temple in Seoul, South Korea recently laid down some serious rhymes at a pray competition.
The rapping nuns are Buddhist, and while many of the 300 nuns who were in attendance stuck to reciting prayers in a traditional way, some took to the mic like a real deal MC. The competition was a way to get more young people excited about Buddhism.
Even though they might have been saying benevolent and peaceful prayers, the competition was very legitimate with the winner taking home around three million won, or roughly $2,900.
