SYNOPSIS

An adaptation of the runaway hit Japanese manga,  Lovely Love Lies is about Kang Han Kyul (Lee Hyun Woo) who is a famous, and very talented, composer. Having worked for a famous band long before they were stars, he has achieved a lot more in his youth than most do in their careers. However, he has fallen into a deep depression and no longer seems to have any motive to live.

That is until he hears a voice that strikes a chord in his heart.
Yoon So Rim ( Joy) is a high school student. She has a voice unlike any Kang Han Kyul has ever heard. Yoon So Rim sees the pain in the sound composer's heart. Through her kindness and serenity, she convinces him to return to life. And through her voice, she makes her way into his heart. The problem, though, is that Kang Han Kyul intentionally hid his identity from Yoon So Rim. So for a man who has fallen in love, is it even possible for it to be real when you are hiding your true who you really are?

Also known as "The Liar and His Lover," Lovely Love Lie is based on the Japanese manga "Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru." Written by Kotomo Aoki, the story won “Best Shojo Manga” at the prestigious Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2013, an award that has previously gone to hits like Boys Over Flowers and My Love Story.

Already made into a feature length Japanese film, the drama adaptation of the manga is directed by Kim Min Jin of Marriage Contract and Pride and Prejudice fame. The series is produced by Bon Factory, themakers of She Was Pretty and The Master's Sun. The drama marks the acting debut for Joy, the 20 year-old idol from K-pop group Red Velvet. To promote the drama, Joy performed a cover version of Cho Yong Pil's "Now I Wish It Was So".

Lovely Love Lie will debut on March 20th, 2017 on TVN, and air for 20 episodes. The extended cast for Lovely Love Lie includes Lee Hyun Woo as Kang Han Kyul, Joy as Yoon So Rim, Lee Jung Jin as Choi Jin Hyuk, Lee Seo Won as Seo Chan Yeong, Kim Sung Joo as Yoo Si Hyun, Choi Min Soo as Kang In Woo, Im Ye Jin as Kim Soon Hee, Kim In Kwon as Homeroom Teacher, Park Ji Young as Management Company CEO, and Jang Ki Yong as Ji In Ho.
