WATCH ONLINE: Storm in a Cocoon, starring Steven Ma and Tavia Yeung
Storm in a Cocoon is a dramatic family period drama detailing the lives of workers in a silk factory. Starring Steven Ma and Tavia Yeung, you can now watch this classic Hong Kong hit online on DramaFever!
Steven Ma (The Life and Times of a Sentinel) and Tavia Yeung (Beyond the Realm of Conscience, The Hippocratic Crush) star in a family drama that proves deception and mistrust between siblings can be deadly. Military doctor Ka Yeung (Steven Ma) returns home after he learns that his sister has committed suicide. Upon his return, he also assumes his role as caretaker of the family business, the largest silk factory in Shunde. But he can’t quite shake the feeling that his sister’s apparent “suicide” was something more sinister. Bing Bing (Tavia Yeung), a close friend of Ka Yeung’s deceased sister, also shares that suspicion of wrongdoing and the two set out to unravel the mystery behind their loved one’s death. As they work together, they grow also closer to one another, but little do they know just how many people are potential suspects in this crime. And before they can fully resolve one threat, another danger awaits as someone begins to damage the ties between Ka Yeung and his older brother, Ka Hin (Steven Ma’s The Life and Times of a Sentinel co-star Evergreen Mak). Through all this, Ka Yeung and Bing Bing stay close together. But when deception is all around them, can their trust in each other break through this web of lies and conspiracy? Adding to the drama are Kwan Jo Yiu (Bottled Passion alum and Tavia Yeung’s fellow The Hippocratic Crush actor Raymond Cho), Bing Bing’s long-time fiancé, Sin Bik Wan (Palace and The Confidant star Maggie Shiu), a senior forewoman whose complicated relationship with Ka Yeung’s family is worsened by her hostility towards Bing Bing, and Fung Chi Ching (Heart of Greed star Natalie Tong), a deceptively complicated employee who has her own ulterior motives for being at the factory.
Also known as “Property Protector,” Storm in a Cocoon once again reunites long-time friends and frequent collaborators Steven Ma and Tavia Yeung. The drama is directed by Leung Choi Yuen, another frequent collaborator of Ma’s who has worked with him on several projects, including The Life and Times of a Sentinel. The series marked Ma’s return to his home network, which he had previously left to focus on work in mainland China. Originally planned to take place in the modern day, the script was revised, after some contract re-negotiations, to be set in the early Republic era of China. The series debuted on TVB on February 17, 2014, and aired every weekday at 8:30 for a duration of 32 episodes, with the final two episodes airing jointly on March 30, 2014.
