gooddoctor After its debut episode, Joo Won received a great deal of praise from viewers for his acting on Good Doctor. Viewers especially pointed out his exceptional representation of a person suffering from Savant syndrome. In response to these positive reviews, the actor revealed how he was able to accurately express the syndrome on-screen:
"Before shooting, I visited many autism treatment centers. I met with and spoke to the director of the center as well as professionals and those who were suffering from the disease. I felt and saw a lot of things when meeting them."
In the show, he plays the role of Park Shi Ohn, a man who suffers from Savant syndrome, a condition in which "a person with serious mental disabilities, including autistic disorder, demonstrates profound capacities or abilities far in excess of what would be considered normal."
