Japan has always been known for being one of the most expensive places to live in the world. Like anywhere, there are ways to get by without spending crazy money. But if you love luxurious, delicious fruit, you might go broke.

When I was a child growing up in Tokyo, melons were known as an expensive fruit but were still affordable for many. But muskmelons were only for the rich. It wasn't a rare occurrence to walk through the food market in a department store and see muskmelons on display that cost over 10,000 yen each. That is over 100 dollars for a fruit! And it's not only muskmelons. Here are some photos of other super expensive fruits sold in Japan. I gotta say, they do look yummy though.

160 dollars for cherries

70 dollars for perfect strawberries

65-dollar grapes

210-dollar square watermelon

170 dollars for a variety box

And 21 dollars for one apple!
