What's New on DramaFever in January 2016
It's a new year, and with it comes a new batch of incredible dramas, movies, award shows, web dramas, concerts, and variety shows here at DramaFever! We have 13 new confirmed shows, and a few surprises still to come, for the month of January 2016. Take a look!
1. Arahan (Movie) (January 2)
While bungling a robbery case, rookie cop Sang Hwan (Ryu Seung Bum) becomes severely injured and is rescued by Eui Jin (Yoon So Yi), a martial artist that reveals Sang Hwan has the potential to be a powerful and prophesied warrior. But while under the tutelage of six Masters of Tao, a great evil arises. Can Sang Hwan save the world before Arahan destroys everything?
2. Cheese in the Trap (January 4)
Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun) isn't the smartest or most privileged university student, but she is without a doubt hardworking and earnest. In contrast, Hong Seol's senior, Yoo Jeong (Park Hae Jin), is a high achiever with the good looks, athleticism and grades to prove it — but he harbors a dark side. Even stranger, an unlikely alliance is forged between these two classmates from opposite sides of the track.
3. Bromance (January 4)
Following a fortune teller’s advice, Pi Ya Nuo (Megan Lai) has been forced to live as a man for 25 years. On the eve of her 26th birthday—the year which she can finally live freely as a woman—she inadvertently saves Du Zhi Feng (Baron Chen), a mob boss, and his sister, who falls in love with Ya Nuo at first sight. To complicate matters further, Du Zhi Feng becomes Ya Nuo’s sworn brother, forcing her to decide whether or not she’s willing to remain his best man—or something more.
4. 2015 SBS Awards Festival (January 6)
The 2015 SBS Gayo Daejun Awards kicks off with performances from T-ARA, CN Blue, Ailee, APink, and Psy!
5. Beauty At War (January 7)
Set in the Forbidden City, Seung-Ling (Ada Choi) and Su-Lan (Tracy Yip) fight to become the nanny of Yu Fei's (Sheren Tang) child, the 5th Prince, while Yu Fei and Consort Dowager Shun (Christine Ng) fight over their hatred for one another. Ko Lau-Fei (Moses Chan) is a Kunqu Opera performer who plays the main male role who is in a battle with Tong Kat-Hoi (Eddie Kwan).
6. King and the Clown (Movie) (January 9)
Bonded through a love of comedy and a crime of passion, two clowns—Jangsaeng (Kam Woo Sung) and Gong Gil (Lee Joon Gi)—go on the run and take their act with them. But after their new routine catches the ire of the court and becomes grounds for treason, the comedic duo is summoned to humor the king—or die trying. Amidst increasing political unrest, the mad king takes a dangerous liking to the effeminate Gong Gil, forcing both clowns to walk a fatal tightrope between performance and reality.
7. Grandpas Over Flowers Investigation Team (January 15)
Four hotshot detectives land themselves in their most mysterious case when an experiment goes wrong and transforms three of them into elderly men. Bewildered by their new 70-something bodies, these young 20-somethings set out on a quest to revert themselves back to their normal selves, but find themselves challenged by the hardships of being old. Meanwhile, as the only detective who emerged from the experiment unscathed, Park Jung Woo (Kim Heechul) must rally his 'ol buds into action.
8. Going By the Book (Movie) (January 16)
After a string of violent bank robberies shakes up the public, the pressure is on for Lee Seung Woo (Son Byung Ho), the newly appointed police chief, to take swift action and calm the situation. His solution? Appointing Jung Do Man (Jung Jae Young), a naive traffic cop, to go undercover and bust the robbers.
9. High End Crush (Web Drama) (January 20)
Opposites attract when a man with everything falls head-over-heels for a woman who grew up with nothing.
10. Madame Antoine (January 22)
Insisting her powers are the result of a spiritual connection to Marie Antoinette, Go Hye Rim (Han Ye Seul) has made a name for herself as a famous fortune teller specializing in all things romantic. In reality, her keen powers of observation are anything but magical. But when she agrees to participate in a psychological test designed to debunk the existence of true love, Hye Rim suddenly finds her career threatened by Choi Soo Hyun (Sung Joon), a skeptical psychotherapist.
11. Signal (January 22)
Lee Je Hoon and Kim Hye Soo play detectives on the same task force who work on solving cold cases. They are able to communicate with a detective from the past (Jo Jin Woong) via a two-way radio, and together they work to uncover new clues and solve old crimes.
12. Masquerade (Movie) (January 23)
Under the increasing threat of assassination, King Gwang Hae (Lee Byun Hun) tasks Heo Gyun (Ryu Seung Ryong) with scouting a body double for him—but unfortunately not in time. When King Gwang Hae is poisoned, Heo Gyun hastily prunes Ha Sun (Lee Byun Hun), a street performer with an uncanny resemblance to the king, to emulate royal airs. But as Ha Sun “reigns," Heo Gyun quickly realizes the decoy’s compassion far surpasses the king's—resulting in peace throughout the court.
13. Neighborhood Hero (January 25)
A former secret agent leaves his previous life of danger behind and runs a bar called "Neighborhood" in a small town where he helps the locals with their problems.
