A middle-aged woman in Yamato, Japan, walked into her local police station last week, saying "I'm turning myself in."

The policeman at the desk was taken aback. "What did you do?" he asked. "I broke a traffic law. Please write me a ticket." The woman seemed pretty distraught. "I need to know specifically what you did." said the policeman. "I was driving through an intersection. I looked up and saw that the light had turned yellow, but I went right through without slowing down."

The policeman explained to the woman that because she entered the intersection while the light was green, she hadn't broken the law. Relieved, the woman apologized again and went on her way, still the owner of a squeaky clean driving record.

"If only everyone was that careful when driving. There'd be no accidents." said the policeman.
