Yoon Si Yoon admits he felt pressured to maintain his Baker King, Kim Tak Goo image
It's hard for Yoon Si Yoon to beat his own record! The Mirror of the Witch actor recently made an appearance at a university and talked about life after his starring role in the hit 2010 KBS series Baker King, Kim Tak Goo. This show was so popular when it aired that it surpassed 50%, just like he predicted it would on 2 Days & 1 Night, and it's been hard for him to live up to ever since.
Yoon reminisced about the comment he made about his Baker King days at the Mirror of the Witch press conference, saying, “Kim Tak Goo was like an amazing hat that I got to wear. When I took the hat off, it left such a deep impression that sometimes people can’t see me without the hat."
He continued by telling the all-girls' institution about the incredible pressure he feels to maintain his ratings king image: "My debut project got over 30 percent ratings and Kim Tak Goo got over 50 percent. Rather than liking it, I was terrified. I wanted to hide rather than try and live up to the pressure. But then my colleagues Joo Won, Shin Se Kyung, Park Shin Hye, and Daniel Choi kept trying new things and got over that fear and walked their own paths. When I went to the army, I wanted to cry out of regret that I didn’t follow their example.”
I think Yoon is doing a great job on-screen! His portrayal of the characters in Flower Boy Next Door and The Prime Minister and I alone were so entertaining. Also, the 29-year-old has been delighting viewers every week as Seo Ri's love interest Heo Jun in the magical series Mirror of the Witch.
What do you think of Yoon Si Yoon's post Baker King, Kim Take Goo career?
