You may be able to take an underwater train straight from China to the US in the near future
A recent report stated that China is in the initial stages of building a massive train line that would cover Russia, China, Canada, and the U.S. The over 8,000 mile-long train line would also include a stretch of 125 miles underwater by the Bering Strait. An official at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Mengshu said that the country has already talked with Russia about the rail line and they were in full support.
The train would operate at 220 MPH, and the over 8,000 mile trip would take roughly two days. Many are highly skeptical of the proposed railway as no other Chinese official has come out in support of the plan and navigating around the Bering Strait would be incredibly challenging. However, if they could pull off the impressive feat, we'd hope to be the first ones to ride!
