After four months, the filming for Kang Xi Pictures' new TV drama Endless August (八月未央), starring entertainer Rain and f(x)'s Victoria Song, is a wrap, folks! The 50-episode show, slated for broadcast in Chinese-speaking territories in 2017, is now in post-production as we speak. But, did you know that this is not Victoria and Rain's first big project together? Eight years ago, they headed up the cast in the short film Any Dream, a huge Samsung campaign in connection with the 2008 Beijing Olympics that spawned mobile phone ads and CFs, mini-DVDs, and a music video that has remained a fan favorite over the years.

The story: Boy is betrayed by bad guy and abandoned by dance group. Boy meets girl as he's auditioning wannabes for a new competition. Girl's parents put the kibosh on her participation because street dancing is "beneath" their world class athlete daughter. Girl defies parents and, with her Anycall phone, saves boy and new group from sabotage. Bad guy gets "served"!

Cute! I'll bet they had a heck of a lot of fun filming Any Dream.

And, I have to wonder if they experienced any déjà vu on the Endless August set.

Endless August is the drama adaptation of a novel of essays and stories by incredibly popular Beijing-based writer Anni Baobei (a.k.a. Ji Lie / Annie Baby). The themes that have made her a household name in literature are love and death, anxiety, isolation, and loneliness in urban settings, so everyone who tunes in should be prepared for their heartstrings to be given a workout.

When Rain (a.k.a. Jung Ji Hoon) finished shooting his scenes on October 22, Victoria (a.k.a. Song Qian) and the cast and crew bid him a fond farewell with group pictures and selfies. The remainder of the filming was expected to officially finish around ten days after that.

A firm broadcast premiere date has yet to be set, so stay tuned.

Best of luck, Victoria and Rain! I, for one, am hoping to see these two talented entertainers in yet another project down the road. How about you?
