Biography

Maggie Shiu is a prominent Hong Kong actress who has made many films and TV dramas. When she was growing up, she was quite introverted and was often left alone at home. TV watching became her main solace. She graduated from an acting class at Hong Kong's major television station TVB in 1984. After appearing in several music videos, she took on roles in TV dramas in 1985.

In 1990 she finally had an opportunity to star in a TV drama series, Blood of Good and Evil, and her impressive performance won her a Most Popular TV Actress award that year. She also became successful in films. For her performance in PTU (2004), she won Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Bauhina Award. She also won nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards for PTU (2004), Breaking News (2004), Election (2005) and Eye in the Sky (2007). Eye in the Sky also earned her a nomination at Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards.

In 2010, after a period of hiatus, she refocused her career by appearing in dramas made in mainland China such as Palace (2010), Happy General (2012), The Confidant (2012) and Master of Play (2012).
