This was a delightful drama with a great cast. Lee Dong Wook & Jung Ryeo Won totally nailed it, and their chemistry was awesome. The story is a delicious recipe full of genuinely funny scenes, heart warming moments, and a fair share of heartbreak. It's a welcome relief from the idol-fluff BS dramas so popular these days. Dramas like this are what originally drew me into loving KDs. LDW has left me cold in other dramas in the past, but I think he really shines here. JRW's acting was as great as anything else I've seen her in. All of the supporting actors were wonderful, especially those playing younger versions of the 2 leads; the teenage versions in particular. I was surprised to see they aren't credited, even in the Drama-Wikis I searched. The title of "Bubble Gum" was off-putting to me at first & I almost passed on this story because of it. After watching, however, I realize it is actually quite perfect.
Dull, tired & tedious. Don't waste your time.
Both versions (this & Korean) had their good & bad points. I did enjoy this version, even after having watched the Korean version a few times. My biggest criticism of this version is the very lacking character development for Jeremy. While they hit most (not all) of the milestones for Jeremy, much of what he does in this version doesn't really make sense, because they've eliminated so much of what was needed to really understand the 'Jeremy' character. On the other hand, there were times when I appreciated the more concise approach in this drama; eliminating a fair amount of unsubstantial fluff.
